GOOD CHARACTER IS NO BEAUT OR MONEY
GOOD CHARACTER IS BETTER THAN BEAUTY AND MONEY
EPISODE 1
WRITTEN BY PALAY CEE
"Once upon a time, there was a guy named Stanley. He lived with his mother, called Ngozi. Stanley didn't see his father. Anytime he asked his mother about his father, Ngozi would say, 'Your father is dead. Armed men shot him when we were coming back from somewhere. Your father asked me to carry you and run, and you were still small then. When I reached our house, I carried only my clothes and yours and fled from the environment, so that the armed men would not come and kill me and you. Because the armed men said that someone paid them to come and kill your father and his family. The armed men succeeded in killing your father.'
Stanley said, 'How I wish I could see those who killed my father. I would kill them back.' When Stanley and his mother escaped from the area where the armed men killed Stanley's father, they lived in a new place.
Ngozi started suffering because there was no money to feed herself and Stanley. When the suffering became too much, Ngozi started doing all kinds of work just to feed Stanley. When Stanley grew up in the area, people started calling him a bastard, and Stanley didn't like it. Ngozi made it possible to train Stanley only through secondary school; there was no money for university. When Stanley finished secondary school, he started doing all kinds of work to help his mother.
Stanley stayed with his mother for about four years, but there was no improvement. Stanley decided to leave the environment because he didn't know whether the suffering was due to a lack of money or the people calling him a bastard. Stanley said to his mother that he wanted to travel to another place to look for work.
Ngozi agreed and prayed for Stanley, hoping that nothing would happen to him in the place he wanted to go. Stanley started traveling to Anambra State to check if he could find work there. When Stanley reached Anambra, he used the little money he had to pay for a house rent, and he started living there. Stanley began looking for work, searching tirelessly, but he couldn't find any.
Luckily, Stanley found a job at an Indomie factory, where he received a small salary. Stanley thought, 'Let me manage this job and continue looking for another one.' Stanley continued working at the Indomie factory.
When he received his first salary, Stanley cut the money in half and sent it to his mother. Ngozi was so happy that her son was doing well. One year later, Stanley had saved some money. Stanley said to himself, 'I need a girl by my side. I need to start a relationship.'
One day, while coming back from work, Stanley saw a girl he had seen around their workplace. Stanley stopped the girl and said, 'Please, can you give me some of your time? I want to tell you something.' The girl asked, 'What is it?' Stanley introduced himself and asked for her name. The girl said, 'My name is Benedicta.' Stanley complimented her name and expressed his admiration for her.
Stanley confessed his feelings to Benedicta, expressing his love for her and asking her to be his girlfriend. Benedicta said she would think about it and give him feedback. Stanley asked for her phone number, and Benedicta gave it to him. Later that night, Stanley called Benedicta and asked for her response. Benedicta agreed to be his girlfriend, and they arranged to meet at a bar the next day.
Stanley was thrilled that Benedicta had accepted his proposal and danced with joy.
The next day, Stanley eagerly awaited their meeting, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of Benedicta. When he finished work, he rushed home to prepare and called Benedicta to confirm their meeting at the bar. Then, he went to the bar and ordered a drink, eagerly awaiting Benedicta's arrival."
As Stanley sat at the bar, his anticipation grew with each passing minute. He checked his watch frequently, waiting for Benedicta to arrive. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he saw her entering the bar, her smile lighting up the room.
Excitedly, Stanley waved her over, and Benedicta joined him at the table. They exchanged pleasantries, and Stanley couldn't help but feel a rush of happiness seeing her. They chatted about their lives, dreams, and aspirations. Stanley felt a deep connection with Benedicta, as if they were meant to meet.
But just as their conversation reached its peak, an unexpected interruption occurred. A man approached their table, his demeanor intimidating. He addressed Benedicta with familiarity, causing Stanley's heart to sink.
Benedicta tensed up, clearly uncomfortable with the man's presence. Stanley watched with growing unease as they exchanged words in hushed tones. Sensing the tension, Stanley's instincts kicked in, and he stepped in to confront the stranger.
"Who are you?" Stanley demanded, his voice steady despite the nervousness gnawing at him.
The man smirked, his gaze flickering between Stanley and Benedicta. "I'm Benedicta's fiancé," he declared, his words landing like a heavy blow.
Stanley felt as if the ground had shifted beneath him. He turned to Benedicta, searching her eyes for answers. But she remained silent, unable to meet his gaze.
Confusion and hurt clouded Stanley's mind. He had been so sure of their connection, so convinced that Benedicta felt the same way. But now, faced with the reality of her engagement, he struggled to make sense of it all.
Feeling betrayed and defeated, Stanley excused himself from the table, his heart heavy with disappointment. As he walked away, he couldn't shake the feeling that his budding romance with Benedicta had come crashing down before it even had a chance to blossom.
Back at his apartment, Stanley grappled with conflicting emotions. Anger, sadness, and disbelief warred within him, leaving him feeling lost and adrift. He replayed the events of the evening in his mind, searching for clues that he might have missed, but the answers eluded him.
In the days that followed, Stanley threw himself into his work, using it as a distraction from the pain of rejection. But no matter how busy he kept himself, thoughts of Benedicta lingered, a constant reminder of what could have been.
As time passed, Stanley gradually came to terms with the end of his brief encounter with Benedicta. He realized that sometimes, things don't work out the way we hope, no matter how much we want them to. And though the pain of heartbreak still lingered, Stanley found solace in the knowledge that life was full of unexpected twists and turns, and that each new experience was a chance to learn and grow.
One evening.
"Stanley was just thinking about what happened in his work place.
"His phone rang, he picked it up."
"Stanley: Hello, who am I speaking with?"
"It's me, Benedicta."
"Stanley: What is it? Why are you calling me after what you did to me in that bar?"
"Benedicta: Stanley, I just wanted to test you to see if you truly love me. But I've found out that you love me so much. I'm sorry for what happened; it was just a prank to test you.
Please forgive me. I promise not to do it again."
"Stanley didn't know what to say at that moment."
"Stanley: I'll call you back. For now, I don't know what to say."
"Benedicta: Please, whatever you're thinking, don't think of leaving me. I don't want to lose you. The guy who came into that bar is my brother, but he has traveled back to where he was staying. I called him to do what he did. It won't happen again."
"Stanley: I'll call you back," he cut the call.
"Stanley started thinking and wondering what Benedicta was trying to do to him."
"Stanley: But I like Benedicta so much. She's beautiful. I haven't seen a girl more beautiful than her."
"Stanley: I need to consider her because I still need a girl by my side."
"Stanley decided to forgive her."
"Stanley picked up his phone and started calling Benedicta."
"Stanley: Hello."
"Benedicta: Hi."
"Stanley: Okay, I have forgiven you."
"Benedicta: Thank you. I love you so much."
"Benedicta: Where do you live? I want to come and visit you."
"Stanley was so happy at that time."
"Stanley told her his address."
"Benedicta: I will come tomorrow morning. Make sure you keep something for me."
"Stanley: Okay, I will," he cut the call.
"Because Benedicta said she would visit Stanley, he started cleaning his house and arranging the place."
"Stanley later went to buy some food so that when Benedicta came, he could ask her to cook for them to eat."
"The following day, after Stanley came back from work, he started waiting for Benedicta to arrive."
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Benedicta arrived at Stanley's house.
Stanley's heart skipped a beat as he caught sight of her, her radiant smile lighting up the room. He stood up to greet her, a mixture of excitement and apprehension coursing through him.
"Hi, Stanley," Benedicta said, her voice soft and welcoming.
"Hi, Benedicta," Stanley replied, unable to hide the smile that spread across his face.
Stanley couldn't help but admire Benedicta's beauty, her presence filling him with a sense of warmth and comfort.
As they talked, Stanley learned more about Benedicta – her hopes, her dreams, and the challenges she faced in life. He found himself drawn to her strength and resilience, and he knew in that moment that he wanted to be there for her, no matter what.
But as the night wore on, their conversation took a unexpected turn. Benedicta hesitated for a moment before finally speaking up.
"There's something I need to tell you, Stanley," she began, her expression serious.
Stanley's heart skipped a beat, his mind racing with possibilities. What could Benedicta possibly have to tell him?
Taking a deep breath, Benedicta continued, "I... I'm not who you think I am."
Confusion washed over Stanley as he tried to make sense of her words. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern.
Benedicta took another deep breath, steeling herself for what she was about to reveal. "My real name is not Benedicta," she confessed. "I've been living under an assumed identity for years, hiding from someone... someone dangerous."
Stanley listened in shock as Benedicta recounted her harrowing past – a past filled with betrayal, danger, and deceit. She explained how she had been forced to flee her hometown, leaving behind everything she knew and loved, in order to escape a life of fear and persecution.
As Benedicta spoke, Stanley felt a surge of empathy and compassion wash over him. He could see the pain and vulnerability in her eyes, and he knew in that moment that he would do whatever it took to protect her.
Reaching out, Stanley took Benedicta's hand in his, his heart overflowing with love and understanding. "Thank you for trusting me with your secret," he said softly. "I promise to stand by you, no matter what."
Benedicta: "I want to live with you. Where I am living now is not my own; it's my girlfriend's house, and she has told me to find a place to live."
Benedicta: "Please, Stanley, it's you whom I know. Please help me."
Stanley started thinking about what to do. He said to himself, "I need to consider this. Also, I need a wife. If this is the way God wants to use and give me a wife, then God has really tried."
Stanley: "I will accept you on one condition."
Benedicta: "What is the condition?"
Stanley: "You must promise me that you will not leave me for someone else."
Benedicta: "I promise I will not leave you. You are my everything now."
Stanley: "Okay, I have accepted. You can bring your belongings and come live with me."
Benedicta: "Thank you so much."
Benedicta kissed Stanley and said, "I love you."
Stanley kissed her back and replied, "I love you too."
Stanley asked Benedicta to go and prepare food so they could eat.
Benedicta entered the kitchen and prepared the food.
After some time, Benedicta said to Stanley, "I want to start going. I will pack my things and come tomorrow. Let me go and tell my girlfriend that I have found a place to stay."
Stanley said to her, "No problem, I will be waiting for you."
Benedicta started to leave. As Benedicta made her way back to her girlfriend's house, her mind was filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness. She had made the decision to move in with Stanley, the man she loved, but leaving her current living situation wasn't going to be easy.
Upon arriving at her girlfriend's house, Benedicta found her sitting in the living room, flipping through a magazine.
Girlfriend: "Hey, you're back early. Everything okay?"
Benedicta took a deep breath, steeling herself for the conversation ahead.
Benedicta: "Actually, I have something important to tell you. I've found a new place to stay."
Her girlfriend looked up, surprised.
Girlfriend: "Oh? That was quick. Where are you going to stay?"
Benedicta hesitated for a moment, unsure of how her girlfriend would react to the news.
Benedicta: "I'm going to move in with Stanley."
There was a moment of silence as her girlfriend processed the information.
Girlfriend: "Stanley? But isn't he... never mind. If that's what you want, then I'm happy for you."
Benedicta felt a pang of guilt at the thought of leaving her girlfriend, but she knew that she had to follow her heart.
Benedicta: "Thank you for understanding. I'll start packing my things and I'll be out by tomorrow."
Her girlfriend nodded, offering her a weak smile.
Girlfriend: "Take care of yourself, okay?"
Benedicta nodded, feeling a mixture of emotions as she headed to her room to pack.
The next day, Benedicta arrived at Stanley's house with her belongings in tow. Stanley greeted her with a warm smile, helping her carry her things inside.
Stanley: "Welcome home, Benedicta."
Benedicta smiled back, feeling a sense of belonging wash over her as she stepped into their new home together.
Benedicta: "Thank you, Stanley. I'm so happy to be here with you."
As they unpacked and settled into their new life together, Benedicta couldn't help but feel grateful for the chance to start anew with the man she loved by her side. And as they shared a meal together that evening, she knew that she had made the right decision.
When they wanted to sleep that night, Benedicta wanted Stanley to make love to her.
But Stanley said to her, "Don't worry, we can do it later when we're not tired. Besides, it's too early to start now."
Benedicta understood him.
The next morning, Stanley began preparing for work.
When he finished preparing, he said to Benedicta, "Everything you need is inside. I'm off to work. See you in the evening."
Benedicta replied, "Please, buy me some chicken on your way back. I've been craving it for a while."
Stanley questioned, "Chicken? But there's plenty of meat in the fridge. You can have that instead."
Benedicta insisted, "I know there's meat, but I really want chicken."
Stanley relented, "Alright, I'll get chicken for you when I return."
Benedicta thanked him, and Stanley left for work.
On his way to work, Stanley pondered, "It seems like she's not very economical. There's meat in the fridge, yet she insists on chicken."
At work, a girl from the same factory, Pembi, admired Stanley.
In the evening, when work ended, Pembi approached Stanley and confessed her feelings.
Stanley politely declined, saying, "I'm not interested. Please find someone else."
Pembi persisted, but Stanley remained firm and left.
Upon returning home, Stanley brought the chicken for Benedicta, who had prepared dinner.
After eating, Stanley expressed his love for Benedicta and they made love.
The following morning, Stanley went to work again, and Benedicta asked him to buy something on his way back.
Meanwhile, Pembi continued to admire Stanley from afar, despite other suitors vying for her attention. As Stanley left for work, the encounter with Pembi lingered in his mind. He couldn't shake off the feeling of her admiration, but he pushed it aside, focusing on his commitment to Benedicta.
At work, Pembi's persistent glances and subtle gestures made Stanley uncomfortable. He remained professional, but her advances tested his resolve.
During lunch break, Pembi approached Stanley again, this time with a flirtatious smile. "Stanley, I can't stop thinking about you. I know you have someone, but I can't help how I feel."
Stanley, feeling the weight of temptation, replied firmly, "Pembi, I care about Benedicta deeply. I can't betray her trust. Please respect my boundaries."
Pembi's expression faltered, but she nodded, understanding his stance.
Back home, Benedicta greeted Stanley warmly, unaware of the internal struggle he faced throughout the day. As they shared dinner, Stanley couldn't help but admire Benedicta's unwavering trust and love.
After dinner, as they cuddled on the couch, Stanley opened up about his encounter with Pembi. "Benedicta, today at work, someone confessed their feelings for me. I want you to know that I only have eyes for you. You mean everything to me."
Touched by Stanley's honesty and loyalty, Benedicta embraced him tightly. "Thank you for being honest with me, Stanley. I trust you completely."
Their bond strengthened, they spent the night wrapped in each other's arms, reaffirming their love and commitment.
The next morning, as Stanley left for work, he felt a newfound sense of confidence in his relationship with Benedicta. Meanwhile, Pembi, though disappointed, respected Stanley's decision and focused on her own journey of finding love.
"One weekend like that, Stanley said to Benedicta, 'We are going to go out this weekend. Let's go and enjoy ourselves.'
Benedicta: 'Oh, that's what I like. It's going to be more than just enjoyment.'
When the day they planned to go out arrived, Stanley and Benedicta prepared and started going there. When they arrived, Stanley ordered the salesgirl to prepare a fish for them. Stanley and Benedicta started drinking and waiting for the fish. After a short while, the salesgirl brought the fish Stanley had ordered. Stanley and Benedicta started eating the fish and drank more drinks that day.
After they finished enjoying themselves and were about to leave, on their way back, Benedicta said to Stanley, 'My love, please buy me chicken. I want to have it when we reach home.'
Stanley: 'But didn't you just eat fish? Why should I buy you chicken?'
Benedicta: 'I know I just ate fish, but I need chicken to have later at night.'
Stanley thought to himself, 'What is this girl's plan?'
Stanley went and bought the chicken for Benedicta. When they reached their house, they both went inside and took a bath together.
Later that night, Benedicta brought out food for them to eat together.
A week later, Benedicta asked Stanley to buy her clothes because she needed more. Stanley initially refused but eventually agreed. They went to the supermarket in their area, where Benedicta selected the clothes she liked. After she finished selecting, the total amount was one hundred thousand naira. Stanley also bought clothes for himself worth twenty thousand naira. That day, Stanley spent one hundred and twenty thousand naira.
When they returned home, Benedicta was very happy and expressed her love for Stanley. She kissed him and hung the clothes she bought. Stanley asked Benedicta to prepare food, and she did. After they finished eating, they went to sleep that night.
As the days passed, Stanley noticed Benedicta's excitement building up for something. She seemed unusually happy and frequently mentioned plans for the upcoming weekend.
On a Friday evening, after returning from work, Stanley found Benedicta bustling around the house, humming a cheerful tune.
Stanley: "What's got you so excited, love?"
Benedicta beamed at him, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Benedicta: "I have a surprise planned for us this weekend! We're going on an adventure."
Stanley raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Benedicta's mysterious demeanor.
Stanley: "An adventure, you say? What kind of adventure?"
Benedicta winked mischievously, refusing to divulge any details.
Benedicta: "It's a surprise! Just trust me, it'll be unforgettable."
Stanley chuckled, knowing better than to press Benedicta for more information when she was in one of her secretive moods.
The next morning, they set off on their adventure, with Benedicta leading the way with a skip in her step. They drove for hours, chatting and enjoying each other's company.
Finally, they arrived at a picturesque spot by a serene lake, surrounded by lush greenery.
Stanley: "Wow, this place is beautiful!"
Benedicta grinned triumphantly.
Benedicta: "I thought you might like it. Now, let's make some memories."
They spent the day exploring the area, taking photos, and enjoying a picnic by the lake. As the sun began to set, Stanley noticed Benedicta growing nervous, fidgeting with something in her pocket.
Stanley: "Is everything alright, love?"
Benedicta took a deep breath, her cheeks flushed with excitement.
Benedicta: "Stanley, there's something I want to ask you."
Stanley's heart skipped a beat as Benedicta got down on one knee, pulling out a small velvet box.
Benedicta: "Will you marry me?"
Stanley was speechless, overwhelmed by emotion. Tears welled up in his eyes as he nodded vigorously, unable to find the words to express his joy.
Benedicta slipped the ring onto Stanley's finger, and they shared a tender embrace, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the promise of a lifetime together.
As they watched the sunset, hand in hand, Stanley knew that this adventure would truly be unforgettable, marking the beginning of their journey into forever.
The following day:
Stanley: "Benedicta, I want us to visit my mother so that you can meet her and she can get to know you."
Benedicta: "Oh, that's good. I would love to meet your mother."
Stanley: "I'd like us to go this weekend."
Benedicta: "Okay, my husband."
The weekend arrives.
Stanley and Benedicta prepare and begin their journey to visit Stanley's mother.
When they arrive, Stanley's mother, Ngozi, is delighted to meet Benedicta.
Stanley: "Benedicta, this is my mother."
Benedicta: "Good afternoon, ma'am."
Ngozi: "My daughter, how are you?"
Benedicta: "I'm fine, thank you."
Ngozi: "What a beautiful lady! Stanley, I like your choice. She's not only beautiful but I'm sure her character matches her outer beauty."
Stanley: "Yes, her character is indeed good."
Stanley: "Mom, how are you?"
Ngozi: "I'm good, but things have been tough lately. Sometimes it's hard to afford food, and I don't want to bother you with everything."
Stanley: "Mom, anytime you need anything, just call me. I'll find a way to help. I don't want anything to happen to you."
Ngozi: "Okay, my son."
Benedicta: "Please, ma'am, anytime you need anything, don't hesitate to call us. We're here to support you."
Ngozi: "Okay, my daughter, I've heard you. Benedicta will make a good wife."
After spending almost eight hours, Stanley gives his mother fifty thousand naira.
Ngozi: "Thank you, my son. Your efforts will surely bring prosperity."
Stanley assures his mother they will visit again soon and they depart.
Stanley: "Benedicta, I'm so glad I could introduce you to my mother."
Benedicta: "I'm happy too. She's lovely."
Stanley and Benedicta take their baths and then Benedicta prepares food.
The next day, Stanley heads off to work.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As Stanley returns from work, he finds Benedicta sitting on the couch, looking unusually solemn.
Stanley: "Benedicta, is everything alright?"
Benedicta sighs deeply before responding, "Stanley, I've been thinking about your mother and how difficult things seem to be for her."
Stanley furrows his brows in concern, "What do you mean?"
Benedicta explains, "When we visited, she mentioned how tough it's been for her to afford food. I can't shake off the feeling that we should do something more to help her."
Stanley nods, understanding the gravity of the situation. "You're right. I've been thinking about it too. Maybe we could find a way to support her financially on a more regular basis."
Benedicta's eyes light up with determination, "Yes, and maybe we could also help her find ways to generate income so she can be more self-sufficient."
Stanley smiles at Benedicta's compassion and resourcefulness, "That's a great idea. Let's start by researching some opportunities for her and figuring out how we can assist her financially."
Benedicta nods eagerly, "I'll start looking into it right away. We can make a plan together and discuss it with your mother when we visit her next."
Stanley walks over to Benedicta and takes her hands in his, feeling grateful to have such a caring and proactive partner by his side. "Thank you, Benedicta. I'm so lucky to have you."
Benedicta smiles warmly at Stanley, "We're in this together, Stanley. We'll make sure your mother is taken care of."
With renewed determination, Stanley and Benedicta set out to devise a plan to provide ongoing support for Stanley's mother, knowing that their love and efforts will bring comfort and stability to her life.
"Every time Stanley wants to go out, Benedicta demands that he buy something for her."
As the days passed, Stanley noticed Benedicta's increasing demands. He started feeling overwhelmed by the constant requests for treats and gifts. One evening, after a long day at work, Stanley came home to find Benedicta waiting for him with a bright smile on her face.
Benedicta: "Stanley, guess what? My friend invited us to a party this weekend!"
Stanley, feeling drained, hesitated for a moment before responding, "Another outing? I don't know, Benedicta. We've been spending quite a lot lately."
Benedicta's expression faltered slightly, but she quickly regained her enthusiasm. "But Stanley, it will be so much fun! Plus, we haven't been out with friends in ages. Please, let's go."
Stanley sighed, feeling torn between wanting to make Benedicta happy and his growing concerns about their finances. "Alright, we'll go. But let's try to keep the spending to a minimum this time, okay?"
Benedicta nodded eagerly, relieved that Stanley had agreed. The rest of the week passed in a flurry of preparations for the party. On the day of the event, Stanley and Benedicta arrived at the venue, greeted by the sounds of laughter and music.
As the night wore on, Stanley found himself enjoying the company of Benedicta's friends and letting go of his worries, at least for a little while. However, as the evening drew to a close, Benedicta approached Stanley with a sheepish smile.
Benedicta: "Stanley, I know we said we'd keep spending to a minimum, but I saw this beautiful necklace at the party. Do you think we could get it for me?"
Stanley's heart sank at the thought of more expenses, but he couldn't bear to disappoint Benedicta. With a resigned sigh, he nodded his consent.
The next day, as they recovered from the festivities, Stanley couldn't shake the feeling of unease gnawing at him. He knew he needed to have a serious conversation with Benedicta about their finances before things spiraled out of control. But for now, he pushed aside his worries and focused on enjoying the moment with the woman he loved.
One day, Stanley is at their workplace when Pembi approaches him and says, "I'm still in love with you. Please give me a chance in your life. This friendship I'm requesting from you, I have not requested it from any other person. It's because of the love I have for you."
Pembi: "I have checked your ways and lifestyle. You are the type of man I want; you are just a caring man."
Stanley: "Pembi, thank you for loving me, but I'm already engaged. Before you first approached me, I already had a girlfriend. If not for that, I might have accepted your request. Please, you can check with another person."
Pembi: "No, my spirit is telling me that you are my husband, and I don't doubt my spirit. Whatever my spirit tells me always happens."
Stanley: "Pembi, tell your spirit that this particular one will not happen. It will fail this time around."
Pembi: "No, my spirit will never fail me. I see you as my future husband. Just bear in mind that we may marry in the future."
Stanley: "You are joking. I'm already engaged; if not, it might work."
Pembi: "I have told you what you need to hear." Pembi left the place.
Stanley said to himself, "See this Pembi. She said I may be her husband in the future. Are you sure this girl is okay in the brain? Because I don't understand her."
After that day's work, Stanley started going home. When he reached home, Benedicta said to him, "What did you buy for me?"
Stanley: "I didn't buy anything today."
Benedicta: "Why not? Have you forgotten me? It's like you have forgotten that your wife is at home."
Stanley: "What does that mean? Okay, just because I didn't buy something for you today, that's the reason why you are saying all these things?"
Benedicta: "Why not? I can say so. Are you not my husband? Isn't it your responsibility to take care of me?"
Stanley: "Are you okay or not? Isn't there food in this house? Haven't you eaten or what? Benedicta, please, I don't need such now, okay?"
Benedicta: "I'm sorry that you misunderstood me. Sorry for that."
Stanley: "Alright, how are you doing?"
Benedicta: "I'm fine. How was work today?"
Stanley: "Today's work was amazing." Stanley dropped his bag and went inside to take a bath. Benedicta served him food, and Stanley ate it.
One month later, one day, Stanley was at his workplace when their manager summoned him and some of their fellow workers.
The manager said to them, "What I want to tell you guys is that this factory is having financial problems. As it stands now, we can no longer pay workers their salaries, and we have decided to lay off some workers so that our factory will not collapse completely. I'm sorry for what I have to say now. You guys have been laid off. We may call you guys later when the factory regains stability."
The manager paid them their remaining salary and told them to start going home to their various homes.
Both Stanley and the fellow workers were surprised by what happened. They wondered how it could happen and managed to do so. All of them started going home with sadness.
When Stanley reached home, Benedicta greeted him, but Stanley didn't answer her. She was shocked because this kind of thing had not happened before.
Benedicta: "What happened, my love?"
Stanley: "Give her the termination letter."
Benedicta read it and said, "How come? There was no notification."
Stanley: "I was surprised."
Benedicta was unhappy that moment.
As weeks passed, Stanley found himself in the throes of financial hardship. With no income from his job at the factory, he struggled to make ends meet. His engagement to Benedicta added to the pressure, as she relied on him for financial support.
Benedicta, initially shocked by Stanley's sudden job loss, began to feel the strain of their financial situation. The absence of luxuries she had grown accustomed to made her uneasy, and she couldn't shake off the worry of how they would manage without a stable income.
Meanwhile, Pembi's words lingered in Stanley's mind. Despite his engagement, her declaration of love and certainty about their future together kept haunting him. He couldn't help but wonder if his life would have taken a different turn if he had chosen to be with her instead.
Desperate to find a solution to their financial woes, Stanley and Benedicta had to confront their relationship dynamics. The strain of their circumstances tested their bond, revealing cracks in their once-solid foundation. Arguments over money became frequent, and resentment started to simmer beneath the surface."As things worsen day by day, Benedicta started complaining.
Benedicta said to Stanley, "Is this the way you will marry me and take care of me? Every day, there will not be enough food in this house."
Benedicta: "I'm tired of all these things."
Stanley: "I have been trying my best to find a job, but I haven't found one yet. I don't know why all this is happening to me." Stanley said, "God, why is all this happening to me? Do I deserve it?"
Benedicta: "This is not what I expected from our relationship."
Stanley: "Benedicta, you need to start looking for work as well. We cannot depend solely on my income. If there is something you can do now, you should help. Things are hard on my side."
Benedicta: "What are you saying? That I should start working? Okay, what do you want me to do? Tell me, I'm listening."
Stanley: "Okay, without me telling you what to do, you don't know what to do. You need to start helping me in this house so that things will be easier for us."
Benedicta: "This is not what I expected from you. You said that you were going to take care of me. Now, look at what you are saying."
Benedicta: "If it continues this way, I don't know if our relationship will last. What I expected is not what I'm seeing."
Stanley: "What did you expect? To stay idle and do nothing? You need to start doing something."
Benedicta said to herself, "I don't know if I will continue this relationship because what I expected is not what I'm seeing."
After that day..."
As days passed, tensions simmered between Benedicta and Stanley, each grappling with their own frustrations and expectations. One evening, after another exhausting day of job hunting for Stanley and household chores for Benedicta, they found themselves sitting in silence, the weight of their unspoken thoughts hanging heavily in the air.
Benedicta, unable to contain her discontent any longer, broke the silence. "Stanley, I've been thinking. Maybe we need to reassess our situation. This isn't what I signed up for."
Stanley, weary and defeated, looked up, his eyes reflecting a mix of exhaustion and resignation. "I know, Benedicta. Believe me, I never imagined things would turn out like this. But we're in this together. We have to find a way forward."
Benedicta shook her head, frustration evident in her voice. "But what kind of future are we building if we're constantly struggling? I need more than this."
Stanley's brows furrowed, his mind racing as he searched for the right words. "I understand, Benedicta. And I want to give you more. But right now, this is all I can offer. We have to make the best of it."
Benedicta's resolve hardened as she considered her options. "Maybe you're right. Maybe we do have to make the best of it. But what if there's another way? What if I can find someone who can give me the life I deserve?"
Stanley's heart sank as her words sank in. "Are you saying... you want to leave?"
Benedicta hesitated, the weight of her decision bearing down on her. "I don't know, Stanley. But I can't keep living like this, hoping things will magically get better."
Stanley took a deep breath, grappling with the reality of their situation. "If that's what you want, Benedicta, I won't stop you. But just know, whatever you decide, I'll always care about you."
As the night wore on, Benedicta wrestled with her choices, torn between the familiarity of her relationship with Stanley and the allure of a potentially better life elsewhere. And as dawn broke on a new day, she found herself standing at a crossroads, uncertain of which path to take.
Benedicta spent the following days in a state of inner turmoil, her mind constantly torn between the comfort of familiarity with Stanley and the desire for a better life. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she needed to explore her options, yet the thought of leaving Stanley filled her with guilt and uncertainty.
Meanwhile, Stanley grappled with his own emotions, alternating between sadness and frustration. He couldn't bear the idea of losing Benedicta, but he also understood her need for more fulfillment in life. Despite his inner turmoil, he resolved to support her in whatever decision she made.
One evening, as they sat in their living room, the tension between them palpable, Benedicta made a decision. "Stanley, I've been doing a lot of thinking these past few days. I need some time apart to figure things out."
Stanley's heart sank at her words,
Why do you want to leave me.
Benedicta: this is not what I expect at the initial time.
I need to go and look for another man, that will take good care of me.
Stanley: ok no problem, you can go.
With a heavy heart, Benedicta packed a few belongings and left their shared apartment, unsure of where her journey would take her. As she ventured into the unknown, she felt a mixture of fear and excitement coursing through her veins.
Meanwhile, Stanley grappled with his newfound solitude, missing Benedicta more than he ever thought possible. Despite the pain of her absence, he found solace in his hobbies,
"Every day, Stanley would search for a job, but he didn't succeed.
Stanley decided to visit his mother to tell her about his situation with work and Benedicta.
When he arrived, his mother Ngozi welcomed him.
Ngozi: "Where is your fiancée, Benedicta?"
Stanley: "Mom, please don't mention that girl again."
Ngozi: "Why? What happened?"
Stanley: "Benedicta has been nothing but trouble since I met her. She's been a source of bad luck in my life."
Ngozi: "I don't understand. Can you explain?"
Stanley: "Since I lost my job, I've stopped doing everything for her. She said she couldn't bear it anymore and left, claiming she wants to find someone else to provide for her needs. She couldn't handle the fact that I lost my job and we weren't living as comfortably as before."
Ngozi: "Why is she acting like this? She doesn't seem to understand that circumstances change. Tomorrow might bring better fortune."
Stanley: "She's impatient and unwilling to work to contribute to our family. I'm relieved she's gone because she's not the kind of woman I want."
Ngozi: "Everything happens for a reason. Perhaps Benedicta wasn't meant to be your wife. God works in mysterious ways to correct things."
Stanley: "I think you're right. I didn't like Benedicta's character or behavior. I'm grateful she's gone."
Stanley then asks his mother how she's managing without the money he used to send.
Ngozi: "God provides for me. I have hope that things will improve one day."
Stanley: "I hope so too. We'll get through this with God's help."
Ngozi: "I pray so. We've suffered since your father passed away. God will see us through."
Stanley stays with his mother for a day before deciding to return home to Anambra.
The following day, he tells his mother he'll visit regularly to check on her.
Stanley returns to Anambra and reflects on his situation, wondering why there are no job opportunities and regretting not going to university.
A week later, Stanley searches for a job in his area but doesn't find any.
He decides to rest in his room, feeling disheartened, when his phone rings. It's Pembi."Stanley: How did you get my number?
Pembi: I asked one of our workers. The person gave me your number.
Stanley: Okay.
Pembi: Have you found another job?
Stanley: No, I haven't found one yet.
Pembi: I heard that your fiancée has left you. What happened?
Stanley: Forget about that girl. She is not the woman God wants me to marry.
Pembi: Where are you living? There is a job I would like you to start.
Stanley was so happy in that moment when he heard about the job.
Stanley provided his address to Pembi.
Pembi: I will come and visit you.
Stanley: Alright, see you then.
Stanley ended the call.
Stanley was happy at that moment and surprised that Pembi called him.
Stanley said, "Are you telling me that what Pembi told me last time, that she is going to be my wife in the future, will come true?"
Stanley thought to himself, "Let me wait and see."
The next day, in the evening, while Stanley was relaxing in his room, he heard a knock on his door.
Stanley: Who is it?
Pembi: It's me, Pembi.
Stanley: Come inside.
Pembi entered and sat down.
Stanley: Thank you for coming. I didn't know you would come.
Pembi: I've been thinking about you every day and night. I'm glad I found you.
Stanley: Are you serious?
Pembi: Yes. When I heard that you were among those who were laid off at our factory, I wasn't happy. I want you to start working where my brother works, at a cement factory in Anambra State.
Stanley: I'm interested. I've been looking for work for a while now, but I haven't found any.
Pembi: Don't worry. I've already contacted my brother and told him everything. I informed him that you are my future husband and that he needs to help you find a job at the cement factory.
Stanley: Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
Stanley: What about your boyfriend?
Pembi: I don't have a boyfriend. It's not that they don't approach me, but whenever they ask for friendship, I decline and say I'm not interested.
Stanley: Oh, you're a special person.
Stanley: Whenever your brother wants me to come for the job you mentioned, let me know.
Pembi: Don't worry, I'll inform you when they need you.
Stanley and Pembi talked about many things and used the opportunity to get to know each other better.
After their discussion, Pembi said, "Stanley, I'll be going back home now. I'll call you."
Stanley: Okay, thank you for everything.
Pembi left, and Stanley felt happy at that moment.
Stanley thought to himself, "Finally, God has remembered me. Pembi, thank you. God will bless you for me."
Stanley decided to use the job to support himself and his mother.
Two days later, Pembi called Stanley.
Pembi: Stanley, we will go to the cement factory I told you about tomorrow morning.
Stanley: Okay, where should I meet you?
Pembi told him where to meet them.
After they finished talking, Stanley started dancing and thanking God.
The next morning, Stanley prepared to go to the designated location.
When Stanley arrived, he saw Pembi and her brother.
Pembi: Stanley, this is my brother.
Stanley and Pembi's brother greeted each other.
They went to the cement factory together to find work for Stanley.
When they arrived, Pembi's brother, who already worked there, took Stanley to the office where job applications were processed.
Pembi's brother told the person in charge of hiring about Stanley and asked him to employ him.
The employee agreed and gave Stanley an employment form to fill out.
After filling out the form, Stanley returned it to the employee, who told him he would start work the next day.
Stanley was overjoyed.
As they left, Stanley thanked Pembi and her brother, promising to repay their kindness one day.
Pembi: Don't worry, you're family.
Pembi's brother said, "You're welcome."
Stanley felt grateful for what had happened.
Stanley thought to himself, "If I succeed in life, I will repay Pembi and her brother."
The next day, Stanley woke up early to start his new job.
He enjoyed his work that day and returned home happy for the first time in a while.
One month later, Stanley and his coworkers received their salaries.
The owner of the factory came that day, as he always did when paying the workers.
While checking the workers' names, the owner noticed a surname that matched his lost son's name.
He wondered if Stanley could be his son.
He told his manager that he wanted to meet the person with that name to check something.
The manager sent someone to call Stanley. The manager found Stanley among the workers and brought him to the owner's office. Stanley was puzzled about why the owner wanted to see him. As he entered the office, he noticed the owner's intense gaze fixated on him.
Owner: Stanley, I couldn't help but notice your surname. It's the same as my long-lost son's.
Stanley's heart skipped a beat, his mind racing with questions and emotions.
Stanley: Sir, I... I don't know what to say.
Owner: My son and my wife disappeared years ago. I've been searching for them ever since. Can you tell me about your family?
Stanley explained his background, detailing his parents' names and where he grew up. The owner listened attentively, growing more emotional with each revelation
The owner of the factory said to Stanley, "I want to see your mother."
"Stanley, my mother lives in Abia State."
The owner replied, "I want to see her."
"Okay, let's go."
The man, Stanley, and his security started their journey to Abia State to see Stanley's mother, bringing along three expensive cars.
Upon reaching Stanley's mother's residence, Ngozi noticed three cars parked in front of their yard. Stanley and the factory owner got out of the car and went straight to his mother's room.
As soon as the factory owner saw Stanley's mother, he exclaimed, "Ngozi!"
Ngozi replied, "What am I seeing, Justin?"
Justin said, "Ngozi, I never thought I would see you again."
Ngozi asked, "How is that possible? I thought the robbers killed you on that highway when they stopped us, before you asked me to carry Stanley and run."
Justin explained, "After you started running, the robbers took me into the forest. They said someone paid them to kill me. They shot me, thinking I was dead, and left. I managed to make it back to the highway, where a man found me, took me to the hospital, and paid my bills."
"When I returned to our place, I couldn't find you. I searched everywhere. Since then, I've been searching for you. Thank God I found you."
Ngozi expressed her relief, "I thought the robbers had killed you. That's why I left our home; I thought they would come back to kill us. I wanted to protect Stanley so he could carry on your name. I didn't know you had survived. Thank God you're alive."
"Ngozi, this is your father," Justin said, introducing himself to Stanley.
"I knew Stanley was my son," Justin added, kneeling down in gratitude. "Thank you, God, for bringing my family back. I never thought I would reconcile with my family."
Stanley, overwhelmed, exclaimed, "Is this real? Am I dreaming? Okay, all the people who called me names are no more. Thank you, God."
Justin continued, "Look at my wife and son, look at how they suffered while I was rich. Ngozi, because of you, I didn't marry another wife. It's because of the love I have for you and our son, Stanley. Thank you, God, for keeping my family alive."
"Ngozi, ask one of your friends here to help you pack your belongings. Don't touch anything; we're going to the boutique to buy clothes for you and Stanley. We've made it in life; don't worry, all these years of suffering will turn into enjoyment," Justin instructed.
"Ngozi, you've always been good to me," Ngozi said to her friend, promising to reward her later.
They left with Justin's cars and went to the boutique, where Justin let Ngozi and Stanley choose as many clothes as they liked.
After selecting their clothes, they went to Justin's house, where Stanley and Ngozi were surprised by its grandeur. Justin assured them it was now their home.
Stanley called Pembi to share the news and arrange to visit her the next day.As life settled into a newfound rhythm for Stanley, Ngozi, and Justin, the trio embarked on a journey of reconciliation, forgiveness, and rebuilding their family bonds. Justin spared no expense in ensuring that both Stanley and Ngozi felt not just loved but cherished.
In the days that followed, Justin made it his mission to make up for the lost years, showering his family with affection and fulfilling their every need and desire. Yet, amidst the luxury and opulence, the true richness lay in the simple moments shared between a father, a mother, and their son.
Stanley, once a mere factory worker, now found himself adapting to a life of privilege and abundance. Yet, despite the newfound wealth, his heart remained grounded in the values instilled by his mother. Ngozi, too, marveled at the turn of events, grateful for the second chance at happiness that fate had bestowed upon them.
As they settled into their new home, Justin made arrangements for Stanley to receive the best education money could afford, ensuring that he would have every opportunity to fulfill his potential. Meanwhile, Ngozi embraced her role as a mother and a wife with unwavering devotion, reveling in the warmth and security of their newfound family unit.
However, amidst the joy and contentment, shadows of the past lingered, reminders of the trials they had endured and the scars they bore. Yet, with each passing day, those shadows grew fainter, replaced by the radiant light of hope and reconciliation.
Together, as a family, they embarked on a journey of healing and transformation, their hearts intertwined by the unbreakable bonds of love and forgiveness. And as they looked towards the future, they knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, united in strength and resilience. For theirs was a story of redemption, of second chances, and of the enduring power of love to overcome even the darkest of nights.
"One afternoon, Stanley asked one of his father's drivers to take him to his friend's house. Stanley selected the best car among his father's.
They started going to Pembi's house. When they reached there, Pembi was surprised to see Stanley coming out in this expensive car.
Stanley met Pembi and said, 'Pembi, we have made it. The owner of the cement factory is my father. As I'm speaking with you, my mother is with him.' Stanley continued, 'Pembi, if not because of you, I wouldn't have located my father.
Thank you.' Pembi responded, 'Stanley, I'm so happy for you. God has answered your prayer.'
Stanley replied, 'Not only me, even you. God has answered your own prayer.' Stanley suggested to Pembi, 'Let's go out and drink and celebrate it.' Pembi hesitated, saying, 'I'm not used to going out to drink.' Stanley reassured her, 'Don't worry, you are now mine. Let's go there, okay?' Pembi went inside to take her bath,
and they started going to the bar for the celebration. Stanley and Pembi enjoyed themselves. They were still there, drinking, when a bike man, carrying a guy and Benedicta, entered the place.
Stanley and Pembi were drinking and enjoying themselves.
Benedicta noticed Stanley and another girl drinking. She wondered, 'Why is Stanley drinking here? How did he manage to save enough money to come and drink here?' Benedicta was not aware that Stanley was the one who owned the car they arrived in with.
She was also not aware that Stanley had made it.
When Stanley saw Benedicta, he said to Pembi, 'See the girl who used to live with me before.' What Benedicta loved most was going out every day; she couldn't think of working.
Stanley said to Pembi, 'Thank God I found you. If not for that, I don't know what to do again.'
When Stanley and Pembi finished drinking, they entered their car and drove away from the place.
When Benedicta saw that Stanley and his girlfriend entered the car,
she thought to herself, 'Has Stanley made it in life? I need to check if he has. If yes, then I need to come back to him as his wife-to-be.'
Benedicta thought to herself that when she goes back to Stanley, he will accept her back, as he loves her so much.
She said that she is going to visit Stanley to ask him for forgiveness.
When Stanley reached Pembi's house and they entered inside, Stanley said to Pembi, 'I want you to close your eyes.'
Pembi asked, 'Why do you want me to close my eyes?' Stanley replied, 'Just close them first.' Pembi closed her eyes, and Stanley brought out a ring, saying, 'Will you marry me? You are the best woman I have ever come across. You are my helper and my everything in life. Without you, I don't know what to do.'
Pembi, surprised, said, 'I'm so surprised, and I don't know what to say right now.'
Stanley urged her, 'I want you to say, 'Yes, I will marry you.' Pembi agreed, 'Okay, I will marry you.' Stanley put the ring on Pembi's finger and kissed her, saying, 'I love you so much.' Pembi reciprocated, 'Stanley, I love you too.'
Pembi added, 'I have dreamt about today years back, and finally, it later came to pass.' Stanley recalled, 'Yes, I remember. You told me when I was still working in that Indomie factory.' Pembi affirmed, 'I told you that my spirit told me you would be my husband in the future. There's nothing my spirit told me that has never come to pass before.'
Stanley agreed, 'Yes, you said so. That means God sent you to me.' Pembi said, 'Truly, you are God-sent.' They kissed, and Pembi said, 'I have been expecting today to come.' Stanley promised, 'You will be my wife to the end.' Stanley then said, 'I will come back again tomorrow to see you, okay?' Pembi agreed, 'Okay, see you tomorrow.'
Stanley left the place, and Pembi thought to herself, 'Finally, what I said came to pass.' She was so happy throughout that day.
When Stanley reached his father's house and entered inside, he told his mother about Pembi.
Stanley said, 'Mom, there is one girl who helped me find my father. It is her and her brother who found work for me in my father's cement factory. That's how my father found me through my name and surname.'
Ngozi, his mother, replied, 'She has tried enough.' Stanley expressed, 'I want to marry her, Mom.'
Ngozi asked, 'Have you checked her character, so that she will not be like Benedicta?'
Stanley assured, 'Yes, I have checked her character. Pembi is the best girl I have ever come across. She will be a good wife to me.'
Ngozi concluded, 'As long as you like her, who am I to stop your happiness?' Stanley thanked his mother for her support.
After that day, early one morning, Stanley's phone rang. He picked the call and asked, 'Hello, who am I speaking with?'
It was Benedicta. Stanley was surprised. 'What is it? Why are you calling?' he asked.
Benedicta apologized, 'Stanley, sorry for leaving you all this while. Since I left you, I've been thinking about you. Please forgive me; I'm ready to come back to you. I promise to make you happy now. I have changed; I'm no longer like I used to be. Stanley, please accept me as your wife. Since I left you, I have not seen a man like you before. You are the best man I have ever come across. Stanley, I love you so much, and I'm ready to die by your side.'
Stanley said.Stanley: "Benedicta, I'm no longer interested in you. Go and find another man. I'm already engaged."
Benedicta: "Please, my love."
Stanley: "Benedicta, never call me your love again. I'm no longer interested, okay?"
Benedicta: "Please, Stanley. I regret leaving."
Benedicta: "If you leave me, I'm finished in this world. You are my one and only man."
Stanley: "You are out of your mind. Just because you heard that God has answered my prayer, that's the reason you're coming back to me. I don't need you anymore."
Benedicta: "Please."
Stanley: "Get off my phone." [Stanley cuts the call.]
Stanley: "It seems this girl has a monitoring spirit. She wants to run me dry again."
The following day,
Stanley's father, Justin, said to Stanley:
Justin: "Stanley, my son, I want to show you all my investments so that you'll know about them."
Stanley: "Okay, Father."
They started going.
They first went to the cement factory. After that,
They went to his shop where he sells motors. Stanley's father sells motors.
And Stanley and his father left the place where they sell motors.
They headed to another factory where they produce Geepee tanks.
Justin showed Stanley his three investments in the town.
At all these places, Justin told all his workers that Stanley is his son and that they should respect him whenever he visits one of the factories.
After they reached their house,
Stanley: "Daddy, you're so rich. I'm happy you found us. If not for you, I don't know what my mother and I would have done. Thank you for fighting for your children to be okay in life."
Justin: "I suffered in this world, and I said that none of my children will suffer. Thank God I only have you."
Justin: "Stanley, God loves you. After I pass away, you will inherit all my investments. You are a blessed child."
Stanley: "Daddy, thank you for everything. Thank you for making sure I didn't suffer in this world."
Stanley: "I will make sure I don't fail you. Just as you are going to hand me over to the investments, I will hand them over to my own son, along with more investments."
After Stanley and his father finished talking,
Stanley said to his father, "Daddy, I want to learn how to drive a motor."
Justin: "That is not a problem. Anything you want now, you are going to get."
Justin asked one of his drivers to go and teach Stanley how to drive a motor.
Stanley started learning to drive the motor.
Stanley learned it for the first time, then the second time, and the third time. Stanley became perfect. Stanley is good at learning anything; he always puts his mind to it.
When Stanley learned how to drive the motor, his father gave him a car. Stanley was so happy.
Both Stanley's mother, Ngozi, said:
Ngozi: "Justin, thank you for what you have been doing since you found us. I'm so happy."
Justin: "All of you are my family. I help other families; is it my family that will be hard for me to help? Even if it takes all my money to satisfy your needs, I will do that."
Ngozi: "Thank you, my husband."
After that day,
One day, Stanley called Pembi and asked if she was around.
Pembi: "I'm still at our workplace. I'll be back in two hours."
Stanley: "Anytime you guys close at work, call me. I'll come there and take you to your house."
Pembi: "Okay, see you then."
Stanley: "Bye." [Stanley hung up the call.]
Stanley thought to himself, "I love this Pembi. Every hardworking lady, she is not like Benedicta, who doesn't want to work but wants to enjoy everything in this world."
Two hours later,
Pembi called Stanley and said, "Stanley, we have closed work. You can start coming now."
Stanley: "Okay, I'm coming right now."
Stanley grabbed his car keys and drove to Pembi's location.
When Pembi saw that Stanley was driving the car, she was surprised.
Stanley: "You can get in."
Pembi got into the car.
Stanley drove to Pembi's house.
On their way,
Pembi: "Stanley, when did you learn how to drive?"
Stanley: "Just three days ago. I learn fast."
Pembi: "I'm happy for you."
Stanley: "Thank you. Anytime I get a chance, I'm going to teach you how to drive a car."
Pembi: "Oh, thank you. I will be so happy if you teach me."
Stanley: "You are now my wife. I'm going to teach you anything you want."
Pembi: "Okay."
When they reached Pembi's house, Stanley and Pembi got out of the car. They walked into Pembi's room.
Stanley said to Pembi, "My father has introduced me to all his investments and said he is going to hand them over to me. God has answered our prayer."
Pembi: "I'm happy for you. Truly, God's time is the best."
Stanley: "Pembi, I'm going to open a shop for you when we get married."
Pembi: "I will be happy."
Stanley: "What kind of business would you like to do?"
Pembi: "Any type of business. I'm good in business."
Stanley: "Okay, we need to start planning our traditional marriage and wedding."
Pembi: "Okay."
Stanley kissed Pembi and said to her, "I love you with all my life."
Pembi kissed Stanley back and said, "I love you too."
Stanley and Pembi started making love.
After their intimate moment, Stanley and Pembi spent the evening discussing their future plans. They agreed to officially announce their engagement to their families and friends the following weekend.
The next day, Stanley visited his parents and shared the news of his engagement to Pembi. His parents were thrilled and immediately embraced Pembi as part of the family. They started discussing wedding plans and offered their full support.
Meanwhile, Pembi shared the news with her family, who were equally delighted. They eagerly began preparations for the traditional marriage ceremony.
As the week went by, Stanley and Pembi worked together to finalize the details of their engagement announcement. They sent out invitations and made arrangements for the celebration.
Finally, the day of the engagement ceremony arrived. Friends and family gathered to witness the joyous occasion. Stanley and Pembi exchanged rings and made vows of commitment to each other in front of their loved ones.
The atmosphere was filled with happiness and celebration as everyone toasted to the newly engaged couple. Stanley couldn't have been happier to have Pembi by his side, and Pembi felt grateful to have found such a supportive and loving partner in Stanley.
As they danced together, surrounded by their loved ones, Stanley and Pembi knew that their journey together was just beginning, and they were ready to face whatever the future held, hand in hand.As Stanley and Pembi basked in the joy of their engagement, a new challenge emerged. One evening, as they were having dinner together, Pembi received a distressing phone call from her younger sister, Tari.
Pembi: "Hello, Tari. What's wrong?"
Tari: "Pembi, it's Mama. She's been taken ill, and we don't know what to do. We need your help."
Pembi's face filled with concern as she listened to her sister's words.
Pembi: "I'll be right there. Tell Mama we're coming."
Turning to Stanley, she relayed the news.
Pembi: "Stanley, my mother is sick. We need to go to my hometown immediately."
Stanley nodded, understanding the urgency of the situation.
Stanley: "Let's go. We'll make sure your mother gets the help she needs."
Without hesitation, they rushed to Pembi's hometown. Upon reaching there, they found Mama lying weakly in bed, surrounded by worried family members.
Pembi: "Mama, we're here. What happened?"
Mama weakly lifted her hand to touch Pembi's face.
Mama: "My dear, I've been feeling unwell for days now. I didn't want to worry you."
Pembi's heart sank at the sight of her mother's frail condition.
Pembi: "We need to take you to the hospital. Stanley, please help me lift her."
Together, they carefully lifted Mama and transported her to the nearest hospital. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Mama with a serious illness that required immediate treatment.
Stanley: "Pembi, don't worry. We'll take care of Mama's medical expenses. She'll get the best treatment."
Pembi felt a surge of gratitude towards Stanley for his unwavering support.
Pembi: "Thank you, Stanley. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Despite the initial shock of Mama's illness, Stanley and Pembi rallied their family together to support Mama during her treatment. They took turns staying by her bedside, providing comfort and reassurance.
Days turned into weeks as Mama slowly regained her strength with the help of medical treatment and the love of her family. Stanley and Pembi stood by her side every step of the way, ensuring she never felt alone.
As Mama's health gradually improved, Stanley and Pembi reflected on the challenges they had faced together. They realized that their love and commitment to each other had only grown stronger in the face of adversity.
With Mama's condition stabilizing, Stanley and Pembi returned to their own lives, grateful for the lessons learned and the bonds strengthened through the experience. As they looked towards their future together, they knew that whatever challenges came their way, they would face them united as partners, ready to overcome anything together.
When Benedicta heard that Stanley had gotten married, she thought to herself, "Benedicta, you have messed up. Stanley used to love me so much. Even when I asked him to buy me anything, he never hesitated; he would always buy it."
Benedicta: "I have made the greatest mistake of my life by leaving Stanley."
Benedicta: "I need to call Stanley and beg him to make me his second wife. Let me check if he will accept my request."
Benedicta called Stanley.
Benedicta: "Hello."
Stanley: "Benedicta, stop calling me, please."
Benedicta: "Stanley, I want to tell you something. I know you just got married recently. I want you to make me your second wife. I promise to respect your first wife. Please accept my request."
Stanley: "You see your life? Just because I had a small problem, you left me to find another man while I was still working at the factory. Wasn't I providing for all your demands? But when you saw that I was no longer working, you left me. Now that you've heard that my father is a billionaire, you've come to start deceiving me. I'm no longer interested in you."
Benedicta: "I'm sorry. Just make me your second wife. You will not regret it."
Stanley: "I will regret it. It will be an insult to me. I will not marry anyone else except Bembi, my love, the woman of my choice. Not a woman like you who doesn't want to work for anything in life. All you want to do is relax and eat another man's wealth."
Stanley: "Stop calling me."
Benedicta: "Please, Stanley, I realize that you are the best partner a woman could want in life. I regret leaving you because of your financial problems. I promise not to leave you again. Think about it. I still love you so much. Please make me your second wife."
Stanley: "I will think about it."
Benedicta: "Please think about it. I might die if you don't marry me."
Stanley: "If you could leave me without dying, why would you die now? I'll think about it."
Benedicta: "If you misunderstood me, I'm sorry. Think about what I just told you. I want to be your second wife, and I promise to respect your first wife."
Stanley: "I will think about it."
Stanley ended the call.As Stanley hung up the call, he found himself engulfed in a whirlwind of emotions. Benedicta's unexpected plea stirred memories of their past together, but his heart remained steadfast in its commitment to Pembi, his true love and partner in life. Despite Benedicta's persistent appeals, Stanley knew where his loyalty lay.
Turning to Pembi, he found solace in her comforting presence. With a reassuring smile, Pembi gently squeezed his hand, silently affirming their bond and unity. Together, they had weathered storms, emerging stronger and more resilient each time. Stanley knew he couldn't betray that trust, not for anything in the world.
Deep into the night, Stanley contemplated Benedicta's proposition. Yet, with each passing moment, his conviction grew firmer. He couldn't allow himself to be swayed by fleeting sentiments or promises of regret. His love for Pembi transcended any temptation or past regrets.
The next day, Stanley made a decisive choice. He dialed Benedicta's number, his voice steady and resolute.
Stanley: "Benedicta, I've thought about your request, but I must decline. My heart belongs to Pembi, and I cannot betray her trust or our love. I wish you all the best, but I must ask you to respect my decision and refrain from contacting me again."
With those words, Stanley closed the chapter on his past, embracing the future he had chosen with Pembi by his side. As they looked ahead, their love shone brighter, illuminating the path forward with unwavering certainty and strength. Together, they would face whatever challenges lay ahead, united in their commitment to each other and the life they had built together.
"When Stanley declined Benedicta's request, she could not withstand it. She decided to travel out of the area to another place.
Later, Stanley opened a supermarket for Pembi.
Stanley managed his father's investment.
Two years later, Stanley and Pembi bore a son, who started attending the best school in town.
Five years later, Benedicta has not found a man to marry her. Any man who makes friends with her will notice that she is not wife material; all she wants is sex and to eat, and not to work.
In the end, Benedicta never got married due to her character. Many men who came close to her hated her behavior. Benedicta later regretted her actions.
Stanley and Pembi lived a happily married life. They later bore another four children, all of whom were trained in the best school.
Stanley later became a billionaire and thought to himself, 'Am I the one who is now a billionaire? God is wonderful. Nobody knows tomorrow.'
Stanley: 'In any condition you find yourself, always remember that tomorrow may be better in your life. Never use your present predicament to judge your future. Always have patience in anything you are doing, in your relationship, in your business, in anything. Always have hope that tomorrow may be better, because tomorrow is unpredictable.'"
