CHAPTER (1)
"Darling, do we really have to relocate?" I asked wearing a tired face.
"Yes my love. I've been transferred to a new place of work".
"I know but I love it here".
"You're pregnant, Ava is just three. I can't leave you both".
"We'll manage".
"No way. we're all going to live together and I've found just the perfect house for us and it's very affordable".Kevin said as he packed our bags.
"I don't feel good about this Kevin"
"It's what's best for us. Don't you want us to live together?"
"I want that but..."
"You're being so dramatic right now but I can understand. it's the baby right?"
"You always blame the baby for anything I do or say"
"Isn't it normal with pregnant women?"
"Well... it's not!" We both laughed and made arrangements to leave.
AT THE NEW APARTMENT...
The place looked deserted... surrounded by dead trees and plants. There was a dark cloud hanging over the house which disappeared in the blink of an eye.
"Kevin! Where have you brought us?" I asked.
"Our new home"
"This place looks abandoned!" I shouted.
"Yes..no one has lived here in five years" he said getting out of the car.
"Five years? That's strange".
I held my little Ava's hands as we stood in front of the house. Kevin got our luggages from the car's boot.
"Common! Let's go in"
Immediately the door was opened, three bats flew out, a repulsive odour oozed out and I heard a very loud scream.
"Did you hear that?" I said holding my breath.
"Hear what?"
"Someone's scream"
"Oh stop being delusional darling. No one screamed".
Kevin said walking into the dark house. The lights were turned on and I felt a shadow move behind me...I held my daughter tight.
The whole place was filled with cobwebs and dusts then we cleaned up.
For a moment, I began to accept the fact that I was being delusional as the house looked a lot better after we had cleared the mess...I loved the view and started feeling comfortable. We settled in.
••••••••••••••••••
~I saw a shadowy image of a lady creeping in the dark; her hair reached her toes. As I moved closer, the shadow disappeared and I began to hear a voice whispering in a strange language..the whispering got louder and louder filling my head.
"Aah!!!" I shouted and jerked up sweating. it was a nightmare.
"What's it darling?" Kevin who was woken up by my shout asked.
"It's nothing. Just a nightmare" I said laying down.
"I hope these nightmares stop when the baby arrives". My sleepy husband said pulling me closer.
The house had a very cheap rent and that was unusual for such a big house. Realizing the apartment was a bit old, my suspicion was cleared. I was glad we were able to afford an apartment as cheap as that. it was a rare opportunity.

CHAPTER (2)
Kevin left for work and Ava for her new school. I stayed home sewing a dress for my unborn princess.
A gentle knock came from the front door.
"It could be a neighbor" I whispered heading to the door ignoring the fact that there were no houses around.
I opened hoping to find someone but to my astonishment, there was no one there.
Then I thought it could be a kid fooling around so I went back in.
The knock came again just as I was about continuing my sewing. I rushed to the door... behold a hunched wrinkled old lady was standing there shivering. Her eyes didn't blink... she was dressed in filthy clothes dripping blood. I was scared but felt she needed help.
She spoke in a strange language; the same language I heard in my dream. I had no clue what she was trying to say...All I could think of was helping her.
As I was about taking the old lady in, I got distracted by a noise coming from my bedroom... Reaching there, I found my sewing machine on the floor broken.
"What?! it was just... how?" I mumbled.
Still wondering what had happened, I saw dark footprints moving out of the room... fear gripped me and I ran out. Getting to the entrance door, I couldn't find the old lady and there was no traces of her around.
"Where did she go?" I asked myself in surprise.
The incident began to stir up fear in me...I didn't go back in. I stayed out until Kevin returned.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
"I know what I saw"
"This is ridiculous of you. I don't see anything strange about that".
"You don't?! It was so real"
"Don't stress it. There's nothing fishy about what you experienced"
The broken sewing machine? The dark footsteps? How do you explain that?"
"What happened with the sewing machine must have been an accident and the footsteps, they're just your illusions".
"Are you trying to call me a liar?"
"No darling. You're blowing things out of proportion"
"The old lady... she must be a ghost" I said in fright".
"Let's go to bed. There's nothing wrong with this house". Kevin said.
"You know what?... forget it"
I left the bedroom to Ava's in fury. I felt something wasn't right about the house and the environment but Kevin just wouldn't believe.
In the middle of the night, I felt a force pulling me away from the bed slowly... Suddenly, I found myself on the floor hitting my belly hard. I screamed and Kevin rushed into the room.
"My baby" I cried.
"What happened?"
I couldn't help but scream. Immediately, I was rushed to the hospital.
MINUTES LATER...
Kevin walked into the ward.
"Doctor! How's my wife"
"She's doing well now. How did this happen?" The doctor asked.
"I... I don't know. I heard her scream and found her on the floor" Kevin replied.
Poor me...I laid down in pain with my eyes barely opened.
"Mr Kevin. You have to be really careful if you don't want to loose your baby"
"I'll take extra care of her doctor. Thanks a lot".
As soon as the doctor left the ward, Kevin held my hand and kissed my forehead sitting beside me.
"There's something in that house" I said in fear.
"Calm down. Everything will be fine"
"I'm not crazy. it's real".
"What is it?"
"A dark force...A ghost"
"Stop it! You're scaring our little girl"
He said turning to Ava who was in tears.
"There's no such thing as ghosts. Stop being delusional. you'll hurt yourself and the baby"
What more could I say? I wasn't sure if it was a ghost yet but I knew some negative power was in that house.

CHAPTER (3)
I couldn't let go of my experience the other night... it was stuck in my head.
I invited a priest to say a prayer for the house even with much hesitation from Kevin. It surprised me to hear from the priest that there were no ghosts in the house.
"You heard him. There are no ghosts here" Kevin said.
"But... How's that possible?"
I called the priest to a corner of the house later on.
"Are you sure there are no ghosts here?"
I asked anxiously.
"Ma'am. If you believe there is a ghost here then there is but if you believe there isn't any, then there is no ghost".
"Priest..."
"May your fear be destroyed and your faith built. Peace be unto you"
He said and gave me a chaplet before leaving.
My curiosity led me to finding more about that house. I went to the basement where we kept the broken pictures and few belongings of the family who had lived there years ago.
My flash light flickered as I stepped into the basement. It was old and a bit faulty so I didn't see it as suspicious or threatening.
The light got dimmer as I walked in searching for the boxes. I reached out for the basement lights and turned them on continuing my search. I began to hear some creepy sounds but gave no relevance to them. The lights also began to flicker and just then I made haste to leave but no without the boxes.
I found a box, grabbed it and attempted to leave the basement. A gusty wind moved pass me out of the basement and I immediately ran out.
As I searched the box, I didn't find any clue to the strange happenings...this made me recall the priest words. I was probably having illusions due to fear and just then, I decided to let go of what I assumed were delusions with the believe that ghosts weren't real.
For the remaining two months of my pregnancy, I didn't have any strange experience in the house. Living happily with my dear husband and daughter, I made preparations for the arrival of my unborn child not knowing that I had released the worst spirit from the basement the moment I opened the door.
I guess it was waiting for the right time to attack which was when my baby arrived.
••••••••••••••••••
Our joy knew no bounds on the arrival of our second child.
At the hospital...
"She's cute isn't she?" I asked staring at my baby whom I held in my arms.
"Yes...She has your eyes" Kevin replied smiling.
"I'm so glad. Ava now has a playmate".
"Now we have two beautiful angels". Kevin said embracing me and the baby.

CHAPTER (4)
So loud it was...The cry of a baby. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I looked around in the dark with cold hands and feet.
Then I heard a voice groaning and laughing. The baby's cry didn't stop. I felt empty as though something had been taking away from me. My hands were wet and as I looked at them, they were soaked in blood.
"Blood? whose blood?" I thought.
I went deeper into the dark and found a crib and when I looked into it, there was no child in it. A shadow went past me and bloody footsteps followed. Then I saw a lady with pale, gnarly hands emerging silently from the darkness walking towards me.
Filled with fright, I tried to scream but couldn't find my voice. She slowly approached the crib and deeped her hands into it taking out a crying baby.
There was no baby in it when I looked...this got me more frightened.
She laughed, twisted her neck back and forth and groaned. Taking a closer look at the baby, I realized it was mine.
I began to run after the ghost who crept menacingly disappearing into the dark.
~I woke up to my baby crying immensely. Jumping out of bed, I went straight to the kids bedroom and couldn't find Chloe in her crib. I began to search the house for her.
Getting to the sitting room, I found my baby on the floor crying with no clothes on.
"Oh my goodness!" I said lifting her up.
I immediately got her wrapped in a little cloth and tried putting her to sleep.
••••••••••••••••••••
"Kevin! Kevin!" I called out tapping my husband.
"What's the matter darling?" he asked
"Wake up! We need to talk" I said panting.
"Can't it wait till tomorrow?" The sleepy Kevin said.
"No it can't!" I kept on tapping him.
"Fine. What's the matter?"
He sat down.
"There's a ghost hovering around this house".
"Oh! so this important discussion is about ghosts?"
"You have to believe me" I said narrating my dream and the incident to him.
"You disturbed my sleep just to talk about this?"
"Our lives are in danger. I don't want anything to happen to my kids. we have to leave this house".
Kevin laughed..."Leave the house? Hell no!"
"It's not safe here. I'm very sure of what I saw".
"The priest said there are no ghosts here" Kevin shouted.
"Forget about what the priest said" I shouted back.
"We're not leaving this house!"
"Please. she'll kill us all! She tried to kill our baby". I tried explaining to him.
"Nothing's going to happen to us. You're just being scared for no reason".
"She won't spare us I swear. We have to leave" I begged.
"If there is a ghost in this house, why haven't I seen it? Tell me".
"I don't know... I see her in my dreams and in reality".
"Then I want to see this ghost you're talking about. Only then can we leave this house" Kevin said going back to sleep.
I cried all through the night in fear. It became clear to me that I wasn't having illusions. That outrageous spirit was up to no good...protecting my family from it was the only choice I had.

CHAPTER (5)
The nightmares and torment continued and still Kevin refused to see reasons with me.. It was either me finding myself in a pool of blood or watching my loved ones get hurt.
~The door bell rang and I went to get the door.
"Mom?" I exclaimed.
"Hey sweetie" She gave me a tight hug.
"You're here? why?" I asked in surprise.
"Do you have a problem with me visiting?"
"No mom but..."
"Where are my cute grandkids" she walked in ignoring me.
Kevin walked in afterwards.
"Why have you brought her here?" I asked pulling him to a corner.
"Your attitude has been really off lately so I thought you would be happy to have her around".
"She can't stay here and you know that"
"Why? Because of your delusions?"
"I hope it isn't too late when you finally see the truth". I said walking out on him.
•••••••••••••••••
The spirit wasn't going to spare any of us not even Mom.
I was about going to bed when I heard her scream from the guest room. Fortunately Kevin also heard it and we rushed there immediately.
At first the door couldn't get opened... the only way to get in was to break down the door. We got in after much struggle and found mom on the floor. She couldn't move her legs.
We tried asking her what went wrong but she didn't speak. Her eyes were filled with fear and her heart pumped faster. She slowly lifted her hand pointing behind the door. I looked in the direction and behold there was a dark silhouetted figure standing motionless which disappeared shortly after Mom passed out.
"No!" I said banging my hands on the wall.
"Darling! Stop it. she'll be fine"
"No she'll not! I cried, I warned you severally but you wouldn't listen now look what has happened to my Mom".
"Don't worry. Everything is going to be fine".
"No!" I cried out.
"I'm so sorry". He apologized consoling me.
Mom went into a comma and that really broke me. Leaving that house was all I could think of not knowing we were all trapped there.
Our many attempts to leave were foiled by the evil spirit... Her mission was to kill us all.
WHO WAS NEXT ON HER LIST?
‼️ HAUNTED ‼️

CHAPTER (6)
Next on her list was Ava...
"Mom! I want chocolates" Ava said at night..it was already 7pm; her bed time.
"You'll get chocolates tomorrow". I said trying to put her to sleep.
"No!" she ran out of bed to the kitchen and I followed suit to scold her.
At the kitchen...She grabbed a knife.
"Put that away Ava" I said.
She didn't respond. Her grip on the knife was so firm. She pointed the knife at me smiling maliciously. Her eyes turned black. It then occurred to me that she was being possessed by the evil spirit.
Kevin had gone on a business trip days ago and I was left with the kids.
I became scared..."What do I do?" I thought. The outrageous spirit was in my daughter.. I could only imagine the damage it was about to cause.
Moving away from the kitchen slowly, I shut the door running to my bedroom to get my cellphone. I tried reaching out to Kevin but the call wasn't going through. I panicked as I had no idea what I should do.
••••••••••••••••••••
I heard footsteps moving to the basement area.. Even with so much fright, I walked up to the basement. I had to save my daughter from that devouring spirit. The doors were widely opened and gusty wind filled the air.
My Ava was there completely possessed by that spirit.
"What do you want from us?!" I cried out falling on my knees.
A voice laughed out and then I heard whispers. Suddenly, Ava began to creep towards me. There was nothing but fear in my heart as I refused to move... I wasn't going to let that spirit harm my daughter.
The chaplet the priest had given me was wrapped around my wrist. As I recited a mantra for binding spirits, a very bright light emerged and at the sight of this, the spirit was driven back.. it screamed and left Ava's body.
I quickly carried the unconscious Ava out of the basement and the doors jammed shut.
It took quite a few minutes for Ava to regain consciousness and when she finally did, She was in pain having no clue about what happened.
The battle was on between me and that demonic spirit!!!

CHAPTER (7)
As the spirit wouldn't let us leave the house, the only way was destroying it.
It wasn't an easy task...I was ready to take the risk.
Kevin was next!
"Hurry up darling. I'll be late for work" He said knotting his tie.
I went to get his briefcase and was just about handing it to him when I saw a knife hanging over his head.
My mouth went widely opened, I dropped the briefcase in fear.
"What's the matter darling?" Kevin asked. He couldn't see that he was in danger.
A hand from no where grabbed the knife and whispers of strange languages filled the air. Sadly, I was the only one who could see and hear all these.
Telling Kevin that there was a knife hanging over his head wasn't an option. "It would arouse panicking" I thought.
I quickly removed the chaplet from my wrist and wore it around his neck. The evil hand and knife disappeared immediately leaving a shrill scream in my ear.
"It's nothing" I said giving him a kiss.
••••••••••••••••••••
It was time to summon this spirit. Candles were set on the floor, doors and windows closed, lights turned off and a conjurer present. Kevin wasn't aware of this but I guess it was the only way to get rid of the evil spirit.
I shut my eyes sitting on the floor. The conjurer chanted a mantra and the whole place became unstable... A groaning voice was heard... I felt it's presence..What an aggressive spirit!
The conjurer tried communicating but it was too stubborn.
The doors and windows banged, lights flickered, items broke. Being strictly instructed by the conjurer to keep my eyes shut, I didn't bother to open them amist all the chaos. He spoke in the same strange language as the spirit. Few minutes into the conjuring, I felt something piercing hard through my heart into my body. The pain and heaviness was unbearable... before I could open my eyes, I passed out.

CHAPTER (😎
The sitting room was in disarray.. I tried lifting myself off the floor but my vision was a little blurry and a severe headache struck me.
"Ma'am" The conjurer called helping me up.
"What happened to me?" I asked
"The deadly spirit was about to possess you but I was able to rebuke it".
"So...?" I asked anxiously hoping to hear that there would be no spirit tormenting us anymore. The reverse was the case.
"It still dwells here"
"What?!" I exclaimed in disappointment.
"It's a dreadful spirit. it's going to take more than one conjurer to put an end to it's existence" He said.
"Oh no!"
"Therefore, you all should be on a lookout. it's more dangerous now".
He went ahead to tell me his revelations about the house.
"Sakura!.. She was a wandering spirit seeking for a place to make home. Years ago, it found this house... A family of four lived here; they argued and disagreed amongst themselves and this dubious spirit took advantage of this. She began to possess them one after the other causing them to take their lives until the whole family was wiped from the face of the Earth.
Then she made this house her abode tormenting any one who comes to live here and killing them".
I became more scared...
••••••••••••••••••••
"We need to act fast before she kills us all" I said to Kevin later on that day.
"What should we do? The damn spirit won't let us leave". The frustrated Kevin said.
"It's either we put an end to her existence or she'll put an end to us" I said pacing about the bedroom.
Indeed! The spirit became more dangerous after the conjuring. she didn't only strike at night but also in the day.. With the help of some mantras and the chaplet, I was able to hold her down but not for long. We had just little time to destroy her...
THE CLOCK WAS TICKING!!!

CHAPTER (9)
On the other hand, my mom was far from okay. Her condition grew worse and I blamed no one else but Kevin.
"You're the cause of Mom's condition. if you hadn't brought her here nothing of such would have happened". I shouted at him.
"Oh so you're going to blame me now instead of finding a solution to this whole ghost situation!".
"You brought this upon us. I warned you but you didn't listen".
"How was I supposed to know you were right?" I didn't see anything suspicious".
"Really? Nothing suspicious? The fact that this house was abandoned isn't suspicious?" I asked in fury.
"Don't shout at me. It was the cheapest I could afford".
"Now we're all in danger. You'll have to fix everything because if anything happens to my kids, I'd be your worse nightmare".
As we went on with our argument, we heard Ava scream from her bedroom. Arriving at the room, It was the most scariest thing my eyes had beheld.
She was webbed to the wall... where the dark webs came from was a mystery... I felt Sakura's presence.
"She's here!" I said grabbing Kevin's shirt.
Suddenly, a ghost appeared in front of me...her eyes bled and her feet chopped off. Just then I realized there were more than one ghosts in that house... I was terribly shocked.
My little daughter was struggling to breath and there was nothing I or her father could do for minutes.
After minutes of yelling, I ran to my bedroom to get a carved cross which the conjurer had placed in my hand before leaving.
I pointed it at the webs and recited a few mantras and then the webs tore apart. Ava fell hitting her head hard on the floor...She began to bleed.
••••••••••••••••••••••••
"She lost a lot of blood ma'am and her heart was failing" The doctor said.
"What?! My poor child" I held my head in grief staring at my Ava lying unconscious on her bed.
"She's likely to survive this but I can't promise you a 100% recovery" The doctor said.
The thought of loosing my kids to that cruel spirit enveloped my mind... I wasn't going to allow that happen. This time I didn't care if Kevin does something or not. I was going to do all it takes to leave that house.

CHAPTER (10)
{FINAL CHAPTER}
Sadly, Mom didn't survive... she passed on and was laid to rest. Ava didn't return to being a normal child; her attitude changed. She became dull and clumsy. I cried and cried... everything was slipping through my hands.
~ I packed my bags and that of the kids. It was another attempt to leave.
"Don't worry baby. Mom's gonna get us all outta here" I said to my Ava.
I hurridly packed leaving some stuffs behind hoping that I was going to leave that house at least using the mysteries I had... chaplet, cross and mantras not knowing I was in for a BIG fight.
We were about leaving...
The air turned black around us. "This was the perfect time to use my mysteries" I thought.
Using all of them at once I tried rebuking the dark power little did I know that they would have no effects.
"What's happening?" I shouted in fear.
I held my kids and headed to the door... The doors and windows sunk into the wall all of a sudden. Little Ava began to scream.
Then, Seven different ghosts appeared surrounding us... Blood rushed from their eyes, nose and mouth as they approached us slowly. Ava fell to the floor, Chloe cried out and my visions became blurry.
••••••••••••••••••••
"Darling!" Kevin called out. I opened my eyes...
"What happened?" I asked.
"Don't worry. Everything is fine".
"The kids?"
"They're in the car. We have to leave".
I stood up and saw a priest; his hair was long and grey.
"There were seven ghosts. They...they were here" I stammered in panick.
"They were released when you opened the basement doors... their existence cannot be erased from this house. You are free to leave now as they have been trapped and sent back to the basement". The priest said.
I looked at Kevin
"We're free. Thanks for bringing this priest over". I hugged him.
"I'm so sorry I didn't listen to you earlier on". He said.
Although I lost my Mom, I was glad more lives weren't lost. We moved to an expensive though peaceful house where we continued our lives. The incidents with the house left a big mark in my life... it wasn't one to forget easily.
~THE END~
