Episode 1

   Fred stood patiently under the shade of a mango tree which was notable for its serenity.He leaned vertically on the tree trunk with his left foot over his right foot.

   Fredo was a dark complexioned guy,tall,slim with a very good physique.His face was his centre of attraction,his appeal could turn ladies crazy at first sight.Most ladies in the community revelled in his formidable appearance and would go at any length to make him theirs but Fred was too willing to reject any lady who attempted to woo.

He smacked his lips continuously as he waited for his dear Cyndi (the love of his life).

Of all ladies in the community, Fred had found Cyndi to be the best of them all.It was not only her beauty that attracted her to him,but also,her distinctive morals she exuded in the community.

   Cyndi was an alluring and beautiful lady who was from a reputable family known for their decency and good morals.Just like every other lady,she fell in love with Fred the moment she first saw him.Fred on his own part,reciprocated the love she had for him,he had always heard of her perfect qualities and had wished to be her boyfriend despite the fact that she was despised by other maidens because of her features.

   He sighed and felt a lump in his throat when he saw her approaching.Her dazzling expression triggered a smile on his sheeny face.

   "Sorry I kept you waiting Fred, I was handling some chores."Cyndi said with a smile as she walked closer to Fred.

   "You don't need to apologize darling, I have no problem with that.I would have waited longer even if you hadn't come earlier."Fred said as he held her hands and swayed them continuously.

   "You're so sweet Fred,you should be cross that I came late."

   "No dear, I can't be angry because you came late, it's nothing."Fred said with a faint smile.

   "What about your mother Fred,is she getting better?""Um... I think so Cyndi, the herbs I gave her recently should have worked."

   "Are you sure???"Cyndi asked sadly.

   "Of course I am sure Cyndi, don't be too worried about my mum, she will be fine."Fred said as he rubbed her shoulder.

   "I think it's time for us to go Cyndi,"Fred said and was about to move when she stopped him.

   "Where are we going Fred? you never informed me that we were going to visit someplace."

   "Wait a minute! you've forgotten!?"

   "Forgot what??"Cyndi asked curiously.

   "You promised to take me to your parents today."Fred said as he nodded his head slowly with a flashy smile.

   "Owww.. I forgot! I didn't even remember my promise."Cyndi said and she laughed sheepishly.

   "Of course I won't forget such an important thing, I can't wait to meet the most reputable family in this community."

   "I'm flattered."she said and her smiles faded slowly.

   "What is it Cyndi?? why the sudden expression??"he asked when he noticed her sudden sad countenance.

   "Do you think this is the right time Fred?"

   "Of course it is.Your parents should get to know me as their future son in law.Remember we're not getting any younger Cyndi,we can start a family together, it's not too early sweetheart."Fred said with all seriousness he could muster.

   "I understand what you're trying to say Fred.But i'm worried.... what if my parents rejects you.my father once rejected a man who loved me all because he wants to protect his so called reputation, he don't want me to be seen with any man until i'm fully prepared to get married.""I'm very much optimistic that they won't reject me.I believe i'll be accepted by your parents."Fred said.

    "If you say so Fred,there is no doubt that my parents will accept you.I mean you're responsible and cool.Your appeal could even melt their hearts if it eventually turns stony."

   "I'm flattered, c'mon let's go."Fred said and he wrapped his arms across her shoulders .

Together,they walked away, towards Cyndi's home...

Mr Paul sat comfortable on his well furnished wooden chair.The chair was his favourite,he virtually does everything while sitting on the wooden chair.

   In the scorching afternoon sun,he sat under the shade of a tree and was reading an old newspaper.He kept humming a popular tune as the tree swayed gently in the breeze making the environment cool.

   "Good afternoon my husband."Grace,his wife greeted him as she walked into the compound.She had gone to the market earlier on to purchase some foodstuffs.

   "How are you dear ? hope you're not stressed, you look so worried."Mr Paul said as his wife sat on a bench beside him.

   "You're right dear, i'm really worried,my steps to the market were so heavy because i'm still trying to unravel the mystery of my dream, I had a terrible night mare last night."

   "A terrible nightmare!?And you did not bother to tell me about it earlier?"Mr Paul asked curiously as he dropped his newspaper aside.

   "I'm so afraid my husband, this is the worst nightmare i've ever had."Grace said and snapped her fingers.

   "Stop keeping me waiting Grace, tell me."he said impatiently."A man was chasing our daughter in my dream, he pursued her with a knife in his hand to the point that he caught up with her and killed her sliced her body like a piece of meat.The dream was so scary and remember my dreams always come to past,we must do something."Grace narrated with sadness in her voice.

   "This is terrible Grace, we have to do something about it, I have no doubt that your dreams always come to past.I'll tell the dibia about it,there must be a way we can avert this terrible thing that is likely to occur."

   "Hmmmm, let me get your food dear."Grace said and she stood up and walked into her kitchen to get her husband's food.

   While she was in the kitchen, Cyndi and Fred came.

   "Good afternoon father."Cyndi greeted cheerfully.

   "Good afternoon my daughter, where have you been??"

   "I went to the.... "

   "And who is this young man??"he interrupted as he stared at Fred.

   "Good afternoon sir, i'm Fred, Cyndi's boyfriend."Fred introduced and bowed his head lightly .

   "Ohhh.I see, you're welcome young man please have your seat.You're my guest."Mr Paul said as his face brightened with a smile.

   "My husband,the food is....."Grace was speaking as she walked out of the kitchen but suddenly stopped when she saw Fred.The plate of food she was holding, dropped.

   She couldn't believe who she was seeing,she blinked several times to be sure she wasn't dreaming again.Cold shivers ran down her spine as she recalled her night mare.

   Fred was the same man who killed and slaughtered her daughter's body in the pool of her blood.Though his face was partially covered with blood but she still recognized him as the monster in her dream.Her heartbeat quickened.

   "This dream will surely come to past if it is not quickly averted.I can feel it in my spirit!!!!I can't lose my daughter,no! never!!!"She said within her as the picture of Fred slaughtering her daughter freshened in her mind.....

Episode 2

   All eyes fell on Grace when the plates dropped, she was lost in her thoughts and didn't move until her husband Mr Paul called her.

   "What are you thinking again Grace??"he asked sadly.

   "I'm i'm.. very sorry for that."Grace said and she walked towards them.

   "Where are you coming from Cyndi? I thought I said you shouldn't go anywhere??"Grace was fuming with rage.

   "Er... mum.. I went to see him and by the way,you didn't tell me not to go out."Cyndi said nervously.

   "See him!? And who is he to you??"Grace asked almost immediately.

   "Um...er ...he is..."

   "I'm her boyfriend ma,my name is Fred, I'm the son of late Chief Jerry."

   "You're her boyfriend!?You have the gut,the effontery, the temerity to walk into my compound and blab such rubbish?"

   "Grace!"Mr Paul called in utmost shock.

   "Don't call me,he had the gut to walk in here and introduce himself as our daughter's boyfriend and all you could do is sit back there and call me...."Grace paused and gnashed her teeth.She turned to Fred, glaring at him from head to toe.

   "I don't want to ever see you anywhere close to my daughter, don't ruin her future.She is our only child and I won't let you destroy her future please leave.Leave!!"Grace blustered as she gesticulated.

Fred was taken aback by her mother's sudden outburst,he quietly left shamefully with Cyndi behind him, trying to pacify him.

   "Where are you going Cyndi?come back here now!!"Grace barked but Cyndi didn't listen to her.

   "What is the meaning of that drama you just displayed Grace?you have no right to do that."Mr Paul said after they had left.

   "I have the right my husband.I have every right to do that because I cherish my daughter,she is the only child I have.I can't sit back and watch her associate with miscreant ,wolves in sheep's clothing."

   "What do you mean Grace? are you insinuating that our daughter won't get married?You know she's not getting younger,a man will have to woo her before getting married."Mr Paul challenged his wife.

   "My daughter is not that desperate to get married Paul, even if she wants to get married, it can never be that man,never!!!"Grace said and she rolled her arm round her head and snapped her fingers.

   "Why Grace?You don't know this man too well to reject him,you never can tell if he is really meant for our daughter."

   "God forbid!over my dead body!!"Grace said as she breathed heavily.

   "Is there something you're not telling me Grace? because I see nothing wrong with that young man who just came here."

   "My husband,"she called as she stood akimbo and shook her head,"you see that young man that just came here,he will kill our daughter."she said as she moved her head to the rhythm of her speech."What do you mean by he will kill our daughter? you're speaking in an esoteric language that I don't understand."Paul said with confusion written all over his face.

   "That man was in my dream,he killed our daughter."

   "What!!you mean he was the man you saw in that dream!?"

   "Yes my husband.I strongly feel that this dream is not ordinary,we will certainly lose our daughter if we don't do something."

   "Hmmmmm....this is becoming so serious Grace,this dream must be averted."Mr Paul added.

   "Yes my husband, I suggest me see the dibia before it will be late."

   "You're right,we certainly need to see him, tell me when you're ready,  we need to act fast."Mr Paul said as his wife nodded her head in agreement.

   "Please Fred, please don't do this, i'm really sorry about what transpired in my house."Cyndi pleaded as she followed Fred who was walking quickly with long strides.

   "Please Fred,talk to me,you can't continue walking away from me."she said sadly as she quickened her pace.

   "What did I do wrong Cyndi? have I done anything to offend your mom?"Fred said in tears as he stopped walking.

   "You're crying!?"Cyndi almost exclaimed as she saw tears in his eyes.

   "I love you Cyndi, I love you very much, I don't know what I did to deserve your mum's judgement."he said bitterly.

   "You did absolutely nothing Fred, I promise nothing, not even mortals can come in between us."Cyndi said and Fred nodded his head gently,his face brightened with a smile.

   "I love you more Cyndi."he muttered as he hugged her passionately.

   "You're so soft,you cried all because of me."Cyndi said with a beam.

Fred chuckled as he held her so tight that he wouldn't let go...

   Mr Paul and his wife Grace looked at each other sadly as the dibia chatted his incantation continuously.

He spat on the cowries lying serially on the rug he was sitting.He craned shortly and shook his head like someone who was shivering from cold.

He stopped chanting suddenly, paving way for a long interminable silence.

   "Your dream is not ordinary,there is more to it than I see."Ikenga,the dibia said as he raised his eyebrows.

Mr Paul looked at his wife curiously and turned to the dibia."We don't understand great dibia of this community, what do you mean by there's more to it than you see?"Mr Paul asked.

   "That dream is a reflection of what will happen in the future, I sense that there's more to this terrible dream."

   "You're scaring us great dibia,we love our daughter so much,we don't want to lose her."

   "Yes dibia,we don't want to lose our daughter,is there anything that can be done to avert the impending disaster that is about to befall us?"Mr Paul added to what his wife had said.

   "Hmmm..... averted!?"

   "Yes dibia, please help us,we don't want to lose our daughter."

   "I understand how you feel...."the dibia said and he started chanting again.He rolled the cowries and spat on it continuously.

   "Hmm....the dream cannot be averted, there is no way we can avert the dream, they are inseparable.The only thing that can avert the dream is their separations but remember what I told you,they are inseparable.The only thing I see right now is the man slaughtering your daughter......"

Episode 3

   Fred massaged his mother's feet ceaselessly while Cyndi tried to arrange her hair.

Fred's mother looked pale and worn out,she kept groaning in pains as Fred massaged her feet.

   "You'll be fine mum, I promise you will be fine."Fred said sadly.

   "Hmmm.... my son, I hope so."Fred's mother muttered and sneezed.

   "Don't you think we should go to the hospital Fred,your mother's condition is aggravating each day."Cyndi with a sad expression.

Fred exhaled deeply and shook his head.

   "I have no dime with me Cyndi, I would have done that long ago if I had the money."

   "You don't have to take me to the hospital son, I promise I will be fine.... it's just....."Fred's mother paused as she coughed aloud.

   "I would have given you the money if I have it Fred, but I think I can talk to my parents about it, they might be willing to offer you some money."

"No,no no,you don't have to do that Cyndi, I already know that they won't even release a dime.I will see what I can do,maybe I will sell our only plot of land to raise the money."Fred said still in a sombre mood.

   "No my son, you won't sell that plot of land.The land is our only means of survival, have you imagined what will eventually happen if you sell that land??"

   "Mum,your health is paramount here.I'll find a way we can feed after we go to the hospital and you get better."Fred said.

   "Yes mama, your health is very important, Fred and I will find a means of survival after you get better."Cyndi chipped in.

   "No....."Fred mother paused and shook her head,"don't sell that piece of land.If eventually something happen to me ,you should be able to fend for yourself with that piece of land.I don't want my son to suffer,no....you cannot suffer the way your late father and I...."Before she could complete her words, she broke into tears.

   "Don't say that mama,"Fred said as he quickly rushed to console his mother,"nothing will happen to you mum,you will be strong, I believe you'll be strong, please don't sober."Fred said as he felt a pang of pain.

   "Yes mama, Fred is right, nothing will happen to you,the God we serve does not sleep,he neither sleeps nor slumber."

Fred sat down and continued massaging his mother's feet as soon as she started wiping her tears.

   "Er... mama i'll take my leave now, I have to help my mother with some chores before it's too late."Cyndi said as she stood up and rubbed her body to remove strands of hair.

   "Thank you my daughter may God bless you, please go well."

   "Okay ma, thank you."She said with a smile as she swayed her arms.

   "I'll be back mother,let me see her off."

   "Okay my son."Fred's mother said and he left with Cyndi.

   "Where do you think you're coming from Cyndi??"Grace blustered immediately Cyndi walked into the sitting room.

   "Mum,from the church fellowship of course, Mr Abraham hosted a fellowship today."Cyndi lied.

   "A church fellowship indeed! I thought I have warned you, didn't I???"

   "Warn me!!?you never warned me not to attend the church fellowship mum."

   "You went to see that man again, didn't you?"

   "You mean Fred!?"Cyndi queried as though she never understood what her mother was saying.

   "Stop speaking as if you don't understand what i'm saying Cyndi..."

   "I literally don't understand what you're saying mum, I told you and my father that Fred is my boyfriend, I love him and he loves me too,so I see nothing wrong with that."

"But I see something wrong in that Cyndi, i'm your mother I have every right to tell you what to do and what not to do.In as much as you're under my roof, I won't let you see that monster again."Grace raved.

   "You can call him whatever you want to call him mum, I don't care.I love him and that is final.Mind you,you have no right to tell me what to do, i'm 24 for crying out loud, i'm old enough to be in my husband's house."Cyndi challenged her mum.

   "You don't know what is going on Cyndi, you're craving for death."

Cyndi flinched and looked at her mum inquisitively,"excuse me!?"

   "That man is going to kill you Cyndi, he is not who you think he is, he's a wolf in sheep's clothing trying to devour his prey.I had a terrible dream,he killed and slaughtered you in that dream.You better flee from him."

Cyndi burst out laughing when she heard this, she clapped her hands and shook her head.

   "Excuse me mum, i'm not in for any form of fibs."she said mockingly and left.

   "Cyndi! Cyndi?!!"Grace called but there was no reply 😟😭😭😭.

   Cyndi sat under the shade of a tree, beside a river waiting for her dear Fred.She beamed sweetly as she watched the murky river cascading down the rocks.

   "Hope I didn't stay long??"she heard Fred's voice behind her.

   "You kept me waiting, I thought you were not coming."Cyndi feigned annoyance.

   "Why won't I come to see my love, the apple of my eyes,the only beauty in this community."Fred flattered her and she blushed.

   "I love you too Fred.By the way, where have you been??? You didn't tell me what you were doing."

   "I was haunting for souls."he said in a deep voice that sent cold shivers down her spine.

   "What!!"Cyndi exclaimed as she noticed blood in his palms.

   "What have you been doing Fred? what did you do???"she asked in fear.

   "I want souls Cyndi! I want souls!!"Fred said and he brought out a knife and thrust it into her stomach.

Cyndi gasped in pains as her blood flowed rapidly.Fred murmured silently and rubbed her blood on his face.

   "Hahhhhhhhhhhhhh....."Cyndi screeched at the top of her voice as she sprang off her bed.

She was sweating profusely and was also shivering with fright.

   "It was a dream...."She muttered as she felt a cold presence in her room

Episode 4

   Cyndi and Fred stood on their usual spot early the next morning.She was very worried about the night mare she had the previous night and was very eager to narrate it to Fred.

   "I had a terrible dream last night Fred, I am scared."

   "A terrible dream!? when did you start dreaming? because I know you don't often dream."Fred said curiously.

   "It's unlike me Fred, I don't usually dream at night but I did last night.A nightmare at that."

   "What was the dream all about?"he queried and sighed.

   "You had blood in your hands,you killed me in that dream.You stabbed me to death."she said sadly with a shaken voice.

Fred opened his mouth in awe, he was speechless.

   "I really don't know what to say, that's such a horrïble dream."Fred said as he opened his mouth in shock

"I know it's just a dream but it's so terrible, I mean, I felt something strange that night."Cyndi said with anxiety written all over her face.

   "It's just a dream Cyndi, just a terrible night mare,you know I can never do such a thing ."Fred said as he held her shoulders.

   "I never you're going to hurt me Fred, it's just a dream.Besides,dream does not come true I trust you Fred,if anyone can hurt me, definitely it can't be you."Cyndi said as she touched his silky cheek.

   "I love you so much Cyndi, please don't leave me, don't reject me, don't abandon me, please."Fred said in a coo voice.

   "I'll never leave you Fred,our love is till eternity, nothing can come in between us."she said and Fred quickly hugged her.

   "So when do you think we should get married? we're not getting younger remember."Fred broke the brief silence that ensued when they hugged.

   "Let's not talk about marriage for now Fred.My parents have not approved our relationship yet, i'm still trying to make them believe that I love you so much but they wouldn't listen to me.Instead,they cautioned me to stop seeing you,they said you will kill me someday."Cyndi said nervously.

   "What!?Did you tell them about the nightmare?"Fred exclaimed.

   "No I didn't tell them anything Fred.The truth is that my mum had similar dream,you killed me in her dream."

   "What!? this is serious! I'll rather kill myself than to watch myself kïll you.I can never......"Fred paused as he felt his heart bleed.

   "You shouldn't bother about that Fred, it's just a dream and nothing more....."Cyndi said sympathetically.

   "Fred! Fred!! Fred!!!"They heard someone called as she ran swiftly towards them.

It was Ada, Fred's neighbor.

   "What is it Ada! why are you crying??"Fred asked curiously when he saw her panicking.

   "It's your mother, she's dying,we have to take her to the hospital."

   "My mother! oh God please help me, I don't even have a dime on me .You know what, Cyndi will go with you to the hospital, take my mother to the hospital so I can sell the plot of land in order to raise money for the bills."Fred said and he left while Cyndi and Ada ran in the opposite direction.

   Grace and her husband, Mr Paul sat in front of their house discussing.They munched the maize that Grace prepared earlier .

   "Guess who I saw today Grace??"Mr Paul asked as he munched the maize.

   "Who was that my husband?you know i'm very terrible in guesswork."Grace said impatiently.

   "I met my childhood friend Samuel,the son of the late Mr Reuben,the man who fell off the palm tree."

   "Ohhh I remember him my husband, I can vividly remember he was your very best friend those years before he travelled to the city."Grace said.

   "Yes Grace.He told me that his son what a wife and he wished our daughter can be his daughter in-law.I hope you still remember that his cute and intelligent son,his phonetics almost got me crazy the last time he visited."Mr Paul said with a smile.

   "This is a very big opportunity my husband,but you know our daughter, she will never agree to that.What the dibia said the other time still baffles me, that they are inseparable."

   "She must...."before Mr Paul could finish speaking,he saw Fred running towards them.

He quickly jerked up from his seat as Fred ran closer.

   "What are you doing here young man??

   "Please sir, you're the only hope I have now, my mother is seriously sick and I don't have any money to pay her hospital bills.I have a piece of land, I want to sell it to you in exchange for money.other people are not willing to buy, that's the reason I came here, please help me."Fred said tearfully as he kept panting.

Mr Paul looked at his wife who nodded slowly in agreement.

   "Come with me."Mr Paul said and he went inside and Fred followed him.

   Cyndi and Ada sat beside Fred's mother bed, they encouraged and massaged her body gently.

The doctor have not attended to Fred's mother because no money had been deposited for treatment.Cyndi had pleaded with them to commence treatment and promise to pay as soon as possible but they objected.

   After she pleaded and they didn't listen to her, She and Ada decided to keep Fred's mother busy by encouraging and massaging her body before Fred's arrival.

   "I promise you'll be fine mama, nothing is going to happen to you."Cyndi said.

   "Where's my son? I need to talk to him."Fred's mother said faintly.

   "He'll be here in no time mama,he went to get some money."Ada replied.

   "Hope he didn't sell that land , that land will be his only means of survival while i'm gone, I don't want my son to suffer..."Fred's mother said as tears rolled down her eyes.

   "Mama,he is not going to suffer and you will be fine, nothing will happen to you, please don't cry mama."Cyndi said.

   "Take good care of my son Cyndi you've been a very good help and support to my son and I.Please do me the favor of taking care of him."

   "Mama.... the doctor will be on their way, I have given them some money."Fred said the moment he walked into the room.

   "My son...."Fred's mother called.She paused when she looked into his eyes 👀 and saw him slaughtering Cyndi's body.

   "No...no... no......"she said weakly.She inhaled deeply and gave up the ghost.

Sadly, Fred's mother had died before they made any attempt to call the doctor.

Episode 5

Three days later.....

   Fred sat in front of his house as he was consoled by his friend Ben while Ada and Cyndi sat aside in tears .

   "This is not the end of life Fred, everything is not over.When there's life, there's hope."Ben (Fred's friend) consoled him.

   "How can you say that Ben?how do you expect me to survive without my mother, she was everything to me.She was the pillar that held me."Fred cried.

   "I understand Fred,but we can't challenge destiny,this is fate and there's nothing we can do.We just have to endure and move on.C'mon bro,be a man don't take this too far."Ben said again as he patted his shoulder.

   "Where will I start from Ben?? I have nothing left in this house.The house is as empty as anything,im the only surviving thing in this house.There is no money for my upkeep so how do you expect me to survive?"Fred complained bitterly.

   "It's okay Fred, please pull yourself together and face reality.Your mum will be very unhappy anywhere she is because of your condition."Ada chipped in.

   "She shouldn't have left me in the first place, what did she expect when she abandoned me in this wicked world."Fred lamented.

   "Let's face reality Fred, what we should be thinking is what to do next to survive.Remember you've sold the piece of land and that is your only source of livelihood."Cyndi said.

   "I sold it to your parents Cyndi,please you should plead on my behalf.I"lol be so delighted if they return the piece of land to me."Fred said as he turned to Cyndi.

   "My parents!?you mean you sold it to my parents!but you didn't tell me all this while.Anyway, i'll find a way to get the piece of land back."

   "I don't think they will release that plot of land,how did you expect them to give you back the piece of land after they've given you the money."

   "Ben is right Fred,you shouldn't depend on that because there's no way they will refund the piece of land after giving you money."Ada said and Ben nodded in agreement.

"You should start life afresh Fred,this is what is going happen."Ben paused and heaved deeply.

   "I'll give you some money to start up any business."Ben dropped the bombshell.

   "Ben!? Are you for real!?"Fred exclaimed as his face brightened a bit.

   "Yes, i'm serious Fred, I have some money, i'll give it to you."Ben said.

   "Thank you so much Ben, I promise to pay back as soon as possible."

   "I'm not lending you the money bro, i'm giving you with a free hêart."

   "Thank you so much Ben, you're really a good friend."Ada said as Fred shook hand with Ben.

   "Thank you I really appreciate."

   "What we should be talking about now is the next move, what kind of business do you...."

   "I think that should be later, Fred has to eat he hasn't eaten anything nutritious since his mother's demise.I prepared something, let's go inside and eat."Cyndi said and they all stood up and went inside to eat.

   Grace was sweeping the compound early in the morning as that was her regular routine.She was singing sweetly and sweeping neatly when her daughter Cyndi walked out of the house.She was well dressed with a blue hat over her head.

   "Good morning mum."She greeted as she adjusted her dress.

   "Where are you going Cyndi;? this is just half minute past six and you're going out??"Grace queried.

   "Um ...yes mum.A established a business a day ago."She said.

   "Business!? when did you become a business woman Cyndi?? I don't know what is wrong with you these days, you're always going out and it is not right.I hope you're not seeing Fred because I will deal with you if I eventually finds out."Grace threatened.

   "Mum, did Fred sell a piece of land to us??"

   "Of course he did Cyndi,he came here pleading for money to save his dying mother and we offered him the money.He sold his land to us and we willingly bought it because the pay was cheap."

   "Mum,we should give him the land,we have many plots of land.That land he sold was his only means of survival,he sold it because he was so desperate to save his mother.But now,his mother is dead and he have nothing left with him.Please mum,talk to dad we have to give him the plot of land so he could survive."Cyndi said sadly.

   "Who cares about his life,he can go to hell if he want, that doesn't matter.What i'm asking you to do is to leave that man.He is terrible,he is going to kill you."

   "I don't have time to listen to what you have to say mum, I'm off."Cyndi said and she walked away.

   "Cyndi! Cyndi!!"Grace called but Cyndi ignored her.

  . Cyndi went straight to Fred's house as scheduled.Both of them took two bags of clothes and headed to the community market to sell them.They spent all day in the market selling their wares till dusk .Of course they had a very hectic day in the market waving clothe for people to buy.

Though,they didn't sell enough clothes but they promised to make it up early the next morning.

   Cyndi trudged homeward in the dark after she had spent some time in Fred's house.She walked straight to her room when she reached her house and flopped on her bed to get a sound sleep.

   She eventually fell asleep but not for long...She felt someone tapping her and she quickly woke up.

    "What's that???"she asked in fear.

   "It's me your mother,"Grace replied.

   "What are you doing in my room at this late hour?"She queried.

   "You have to come with me, follow me."Grace said and she grabbed Cyndi's hand and led her out of the house.

Cyndi was shocked when she saw her father whispering to a man whose face was unknown.

   "You have to go with this man Cyndi,your life is in danger, some men are coming to capture you so you have to run, you won't see daylight if you stay here.Go with him, you'll be safe with him."Mr Paul said.

   "But dad, I don't...."

   "Go now Cyndi, there's no time."Mr Paul said as he handed her over to the man.

   "But...."before she could finish speaking,her parents had rushed in and locked the door while the man held her firmly and took to his heels.

Episode 6

   Fred was very worried because Cyndi hasn't showed up as planned.She had promised to come over very early that morning but at that moment,she was nowhere to be found.He waited for her for more than an hour but yet she didn't show up.

When it was obvious that she wasn't coming,he decided to visit her in her house.

   "Where are you going Fred?? I thought you had gone to the market??"Ada asked when she saw Fred coming out of his house.

   "I haven't gone to the market yet Ada, I'm worried.Cyndi promised to be here as early as possible but I can't find her, she's not here."

   "That's not enough reason for you to be worried Fred,she is fine, probably, she might be doing some chores that why you haven't seen her."Ada said to calm his nerves.

   "I know Cyndi very well Ada,more than you do.She always keep to her promise no matter what happens.I think something is definitely wrong that's why I haven't seen her."Fred said.

   "So what are you suggesting???"

   "I'm going to her house to find out what is actually wrong with her.I can't go to the market when i've not seen her, at least let me see her face to be sure that she's okay."Fred insisted.

   "If you say so Fred,you have to be very careful, don't put yourself in danger."Ada said with a show of concern.

   "Thanks for your concern Ada, I really appreciate all you've been doing for me, God will surely reward you in thousand folds."Fred said with a cheerful smile.

   "You don't have to thank me Fred, what are friends for??"Ada said rhetorically and Fred nodded.

   "So what can I prepare for you before your arrival??"

   "You don't have to stress yourself Ada, i'll do that when I come back."Fred said.

   "I insist."

   "Okay.Boiled potatoes and stew will do."he said.

   "Okay,go well."Ada said and Fred smiled briefly at her and left with satisfaction.

    Mr Paul sat on his favorite wooden chair as his wife Grace danced happily in front of him.She sang her favourite song and danced to the tune of it while her husband watched her with keen interest.

   "Is it not enough Grace? you've been dancing since midnight."Mr Paul said as he flashed a smile .

   "Of course my husband,you don't know the good thing that has happened to me.The dibia was wrong, who said they were inseparable?That was a blatant lie!! Separating them was easier than I thought."Grace said .

   "You're indeed very smart Grace, I thought the plan won't go well when you first said it."

   "You should always believe......."Grace was speaking when she heard someone calling Cyndi.

   "Cyndi! Cyndi!!"Fred called as he walked towards their house.

Mr and Mrs Paul's countenance changed immediately when they saw him coming.

   "What is wrong with you young man? why are you barking in my house this early morning?"Mr Paul blustered.

   "I'm very sorry....."

   "Sorry for your miserable self."Grace cut in.

   "I came to check on Cyndi,is she alright??"Fred asked politely.

   "For your information young man,my daughter has moved on to the city and she is getting married to her betrothed .So take your miserable self out of this house."

   "What!! betrothed!?"

   "You heard her right didn't you?leave this premises this instant else you will live to regret what I will do to you for the rest of your life."Mr Paul raved.

   "But she never mentioned that to me?"Fred said in shock.

   "Leave..."Grace screeched and he left sheepishly with the greatest shock of his life.

   Cyndi was perplexed when she was led into a spacious dinning room by an unknown woman.She couldn't believe what was happening,she felt like she was dreaming,her parents had sent her to the City overnight without informing her specifically.

   To her, she was in the edifice of a total stranger because she haven't seen the owner of the mansion she was in.The man who brought her to the city left almost immediately he dropped her.

   "Where's your boss, I'd love to see him or her."Cyndi said to the woman whom she believed to be the house help.

   "He will join you soon ma."The maid said and she left.

   "Look who we have here,the only beauty in my community."Cyndi heard a man said from behind so she turned only to see Marcus whose father was her father's childhood friend.

   "Hey Marcus, what are you doing here?"She asked in surprise.

   "This is my house of course, I sent for you.Ive really missed you since the last time we met in the village."

   "Thank you Marcus,so what is so urgent that I have to leave the village late at night?"She asked curiously.

   "Your parents told me that some dangerous men were after you so I decided you come stay with me."

   "Thanks for your kind gesture but I will love to go back to the village, I can't possibly live here with you.I have so many things to do back there in the village."Cyndi lamented.

   "What is so important to you than your life Cyndi?"Marcus paused and drew closer to her.

   "I've always loved you Cyndi, I love you so much.I fell in love with you the moment I saw you when my parents and I visited the village."Marcus said softly.

   "Are you for real!?"

   "Yes of course Cyndi, I love you, I was going to tell you but I thought it was too early."Marcus said and he raised her up gently.

   "I'm sorry Marcus, I understand you love me but it's late.Both of us can never be together,my heart belongs to someone else.I love him so much and I can't leave him.Never!!!"

   "Are you rejecting me!?"Marcus asked.

I like you Marcus but the truth is that, I love Fred so much and I want to spend the rest of my life with him."

   "You're rejecting me for a village pauper!? you're choosing a pauper over me?do you know what you're saying Cyndi?"Marcus said in disbelief.

   "I love him doesn't change the fact that I like you."Cyndi said.

   "Why would you love him and like me.C'mon Cyndi, I love you please don't reject me."Marcus said softly and he drew his lips closer to kiss her,but unfortunately she pushed him away and ran to the loo.

   She walked to the faucet and washed her hands and face.After that,she looked at her reflection in the mirror,just as she was about to leave,she saw Fred slaughtering her in the mirror...

   Ada was very anxious and full of curiosity when she saw Fred coming.She could sense that something was not right.Fred was in a sombre mood,his expression said it all.

   He was counting his steps as he walked towards his house.

   "Is everything okay Fred?you look so worried, hope nothing is wrong with Cyndi."Ada bombarded him with questions as she rushed to meet him.

   "Hmmm..."he sighed deeply and shook his head but he didn't utter a word.

   "C'mon talk to me Fred, what is wrong with you? you're not looking okay, hope nothing is wrong."

   "I'm finished!! I'm completely finished!!"he muttered .

   "You're finished!? How!? c'mon talk to me Fred, you're keeping me in suspense."Ada said impatiently.

   "It's Cyndi...."

   "What about her? Is she okay? did anything bad happened to her??"Ada asked curiously.

   "She's gone Ada, Cyndi's gone."he said with sadness in his voice.

   "What do you mean by she's gone,to where for God's sake?"Ada asked in disbelief.She was very confused.

   "Cyndi has moved on to the city, she left me,she left without telling me."Fred said as tears dropped down his eyes.

   "You mean Cyndi had gone to the city!? This is strange."Ada said in total dismay.

   "Cyndi left without informing me,she left me to suffer in this terrible condition."Fredo said in tears.

   "Don't say that Fred,"Ada said as she patted him on his back."I believe Cyndi can't possibly leave without telling you,she didn't leave willfully.I don't think so."

   "So what are you trying to say, She was betrothed to someone else and she never told me."Fred said with mixed reaction; anger and sadness.

   "Come to think of it Fred, I don't think Cyndi is betrothed to anyone,no, I believe in my instincts,her parents forced her to leave.I know Cyndi, she can't possibly leave this village without telling you.If truly she was going to the city wilfully,she would have informed you the previous night before she left."Ada said.

   "You have a point Ada...."

   "Of course.Her parents are capable of pushing her to the city just to stop her from seeing you.The betrothal was a lie just to get you off her."

   "I once had the feeling that she isn't betrothed but I had to believe, considering the fact that she left me overnight."Fred said as he nodded his head.

   "So what are we going to do Fred?"Ada asked sympathetically.

   "I'll go to the city."he dropped the bombshell.

   "What!?"

   "Yes.I have to go to the city.I don't know where she is but I promise i'll find her, she's the love of my life.I have some money that will be able to take me to the city."

   "What if you did not find her Fred? what will become of you? you're going to starve obviously,and you know the people in the city are hostile, they won't welcome you to their abode."

   "But my love is out there, she's in the city with strangers.You should be supporting me Ada."Fred said.

   "Okay if you insist, i'll give you some money added to the sum you have, I believe that will enable you survive for a while in the city.But please,be very careful."she said with concern.

   "Thank you Ada, God bless you."he said happily and hugged her."

   Mr and Mrs Paul were surprised when they saw Ben walking towards their house.They stared at him with curiosity as he walked closer to them.

   "Greetings to this household."Ben bowed his head lightly to greet them.

   "You're welcome young man, please how can we help you, I believe we've not seen you before."Mr Paul said.

   "My name is Ben, i'm the son of the notable chief in this community."Ben introduced.

   "You're welcome son,so how can we help you??"Grace asked impatiently.

   "I'm Fred's best friend, I mean your daughter's boyfriend."he added.

   "So what are you doing here? hope he didn't send you to us."Mr Paul almost raved.

   "No sir,not at all.I really don't like the fact that Fred is in love with your adorable daughter, I despised the fact that a pauper like Fred is dating the beauty of this community.I learnt that Cyndi had gone to the city, isn't it?"

   "Yes my son, please go on...."Grace said as she offered him a seat.

   "Fred is planning to travel to the city to find your daughter."

   "What!?"Mr and Mrs Paul exclaimed almost together.

   "Yes,he want to go to the city to get your daughter back and as a good person I came to inform both of you."Ben said with all seriousness he could muster.

   "This is really strange, what is wrong with that rïff rãff?"Mr Paul blustered.

   "Come forward my son,"Grace said and he came forward.She held his ear lightly and whispered something into his ear.

   "No I can't, I can't do it."Ben exclaimed when he heard what she said.

   "We promise to offer you three hundred thousand naira if you comply with us."Mr Paul said and Ben nodded slowly in agreement.......

   Ada was in the kitchen winnowing chaff from grain, she was about to prepare her favorite dish for breakfast.She was shredding vegetables when she heard Ben called her,she gently dropped her foodstuff and rushed out to see him.

   "Hello Ada,how are you doing? hope I didn't disturb you."Ben said with a smile on his face.

   "I was cooking when you called me,so how can I help you?"She asked innocently.

   "Where is Fred? I haven't seen him since I walked into this compound."Ben asked feigning ignorance of Fred's whereabout.

   "He left for the city not quite long."she replied.

   "To the city!? And he didn't inform me before leaving!?"

   "He waited for you thinking you would come before he leaves but unfortunately he had to move quickly.He sent his greetings to you and he said he will be back in no time."

   "That's good.I was doing something at home that's why I couldn't make it earlier."he said.

   "No course for..."Ada was speaking when she heard someone wailing sadly and walking towards them.

   "What's it? why are you crying??"Ada asked curiously as her heartbeat quickened.

   "It's Fred,he was attacked on his way to the city...,"the lady paused and shook her head sadly in tears,"Fred is dead!!!!"

   Cyndi felt a lump rise in her throat when she saw Marcus in the sitting room.He was watching Tv when she saw him.

   "Good morning Marcus."she greeted as she walked towards him.

   "Good morning Cyndi,how was your night!?"Marcus asked cheerfully as he dropped his legs on the floor.

   "Fine and you?"

   "It was good, I mean it would have been best if you were with me in my room."he said again as he looked into her eyes.

   "You're funny Marcus, I already told you I have a boyfriend and I can never leave him for anybody."Cyndi said trying to avoid his gaze.

   "Mmmm...,but I really love you Cyndi, can't you give me a chance?"Marcus asked.

   "I can't cheat on my boyfriend Marcus,as I said previously, I love him doesn't change the fact that we're friends and I like you."

   "Then treat me like a man Cyndi, if you really like me, treat me like a man.We've been in this house together for some days now and you won't let me touch you or have you in my arms."Marcus said with a tinge of sadness in her voice.

"End of discussion, what are we eating for breakfast!? what will you love me prepare for breakfast?"she asked.

   "You don't have to prepare anything in the kitchen Cyndi,the house help is there to do that."Marcus said as he frowned at her words.

   "But I insist Marcus, i've been in this house doing nothing, the house help literally does everything and i'm not comfortable with that."

   "Excuse me!? why should that bother you Cyndi, she's doing her job and she's been paid for it."Marcus said.

   "She's a human like us Marcus, she needs help, she virtually does all the work in this house and have no leisure time."Cyndi said with a show of concern.

   "It's not your business Cyndi,let the woman do the job she's been paid for."

   "But i'm sick and tired of this house Marcus, there's nothing to do here, I want to go back home,okay!? I haven't even heard from my parents since I got here."Cyndi lamented.

   "You should be happy you're living the life of a queen,a luxurious life that every young lady wished for."

   "But I have a boyfriend who i'm dying to meet.I don't even know how he feels right now,he will believe i'm a betrayer because I left and couldn't inform him."Cyndi said with pangs of guilt.

   Just as Marcus was going to speak,his cellphone started ringing.

   "It's your dad,have a word with him."Marcus said and he handed the mobile phone over to her.

📞"Good morning dad."

   📞"Good morning my dear daughter, how are you doing over there in the city?"

   📞"Fine dad, just that I want to see Fred, I missed him already."

   📞"I'm sorry Cyndi, Fred is dead,he was attacked."Mr Paul dropped the shocking news.

   Cyndi felt a cold shiver down her spine when she heard this,the phone slipped off her hand and fell heavily on the floor due to shock.

Before Marcus could utter a word,she fell and became unconscious......

   Ada sniffed and cried as the thought of Fred flashed her mind.She was consoled by her friends and done other ladies who once had a crush on him.

   Sitting beside Ada was Ben,who was feigning tears as though he was a saint.

   "Oh my God! Fred please come back, I can't believe you're gone."he cried as his friends also consoled him.

   "Please pull yourself together and stop crying, Fred is dead and he will never return.There's no amount of tears that can bring him back to life;a dead man is a dead man forever."One of Ada friends consoled her.

   "Why should it be Fred!? what did he do wrong to deserve this?"She said rhetorically,"he was so responsible, he was so humble but his enemies wouldn't let him have his peace of mind."Ada cried.

   "It's okay Ada,we should just pray for his soul to rest in perfect peace because there's absolutely nothing we can do other than that."one of the ladies said.

   "The enemies are so heartless,why wouldn't they let him mourn the death of his late mother before killing him??He was still mourning his late mother's death before he was killed.After much pressure,he decided to pick the pieces of his shattered life together but unfortunately he was killed in the process."

   "This is so painful, anybody that have a hand in this won't go scot free.Vengance must be done."one of them said and they all nodded in agreement except Ben who was secretly glaring at the young lady.

   "Fools crying over spilled milk, what a disãster!!"he thought within himself as he sniffed false tears.

   Mr Paul sat on his favourite wooden chair enjoying the cool breeze when he suddenly became thirsty.

   "Grace! Grace!!"he called loudly and in a short while, Grace walked out of the house.

   "You called me my husband,hope all is well."she said to her husband.

   "Yes my wife,all is well , please get me a glass of water, my wooden mirror and the shaving stick on my table."Mr Paul said

   "Okay my husband, i'll be back soon."Grace said and she rushed into the house to get what her husband demanded.

   Few minutes later,she came out with the items that her husband demanded.She dropped them on the table in front of her husband.

   "I went to the dibia's place today."Mr Paul said with his gaze on a printed paper.

   "So....."Grace queried.

   "I told him about Paul's misfortune, I rediculed him because he told us lies,he made us believe that Cyndi and Fred can never be separated."Mr Paul said and Grace laughed mockingly.

   "That serves him right my husband,we shouldn't have trusted him in the first place.I knew he was only after our money when he blabbed those words."Grace added.

   "I told our daughter about the death of Fred and I can tell that she was shocked."

   "It doesn't matter,in as much as she's safe; I have no worries."

   Mr Paul kept his papers away and picked-up the mirror and shaving stick.He screeched when he looked at the mirror, what he saw baffled him that he had to run away with his wife behind him.

   He saw Fred slaughtering his daughter again in the mirror.Of course he thought the death of Fred had put an end to the prophesy,he never knew that was just the beginning.......

   Marcus walked down the staircase as he carried two boxes in his hands.He was gorgeously dressed in a black suit and an Italian shoe to match.

   "Rose!! Rose!!!"he called the house help as he walked down the stairs.

   "Rose......"he called again when there was no reply, this time, it was loud and audible.

   "Yes oga...."Rose quickly respond as she scurried towards him.

   "You called me sir."she said as she placed her hands behind her,just in front of Marcus.

   "As you can see, I'm going out,my girlfriend and I are traveling to the village for a burial ceremony and......"

   "Ahh sorry oga, who died???"Rose interrupted curiously.

   "And how is that your business Rose? I thought I told you to stop poke nosing into people's affairs, didn't I?"Marcus said as he glared at her.

   "But i'm not poke nosing sir, it's just a simple show of concern."Rose said innocently.

   "As I was saying my girlfriend and I will be traveling and will be back in a short while, please take good care of the house while we're away."Marcus said.

   "I will sir.I assure you that this house will be in a very good condition till your arrival."

   "I hope so Rose, i'll call you time to time to know if you'll be needing anything.Likewise you, don't hesitate to call me if there's a problem."

   "Okay sir, thank you sir."She said as she prostrated.

   "I'm ready Marcus."Cyndi said as she clumped down the stairs.

   "Ahh...sorry madam,oga just told me that both of you are traveling for a burial ceremony."Rose said almost immediately Cyndi stopped speaking.

   "Yes Rose, I lost my boyfriend."Cyndi said sadly.

   "Your boyfriend!?but is oga not your boyfriend!?"Rose asked curiously as she looked at both of them.

   "You're prying Rose and I hate that, please get back to work."Marcus said as he was feeling uncomfortable.

   "But....but..."

   "Rose I said get back to work."he said angrily and she was about to leave when Cyndi stopped her.

   "Take good care of the house Rose, Marcus and I will be back in no time.I dropped some money on the dining table, take good care of yourself."Cyndi said and she prepared to leave.

   "Thank you madam, my God will bless you."She said as Cyndi left; with Marcus behind her.

   Mr Paul sat under the shade of a mango tree with Marcus who was listening carefully to what Mr Paul was saying.

   "How is my old friend;your father?I never had the opportunity to ask about him immediately you came."Mr Paul said and he sipped a glass of wine that Marcus had brought earlier.

   "He is fine sir.He sent his greetings and his insatiable desire for me to marry your daughter Cyndi."Marcus said and they both laughed.

   "Hope my daughter didn't misbehave back there in the city because she's unpredictable sometimes."

   "Not at all,she really kept me company, I mean I enjoyed her stay with me.It was really the best time I ever had."Marcus said with seriousness.

   "Wow, i'm so delighted to hear that Marcus.I knew my daughter will enjoy her stay in your house,so what's the conclusion...."Mr Paul asked as he was expecting a positive answer.

   "Um...."Marcus blushed as his face brightened with a smile,"I will confess that I really love Cyndi, I love her so much.I had struck the right cord in me that I can't think of anything else other than her."Marcus confessed.

   "Wow!you love my daughter this much!?"

   "Yes sir.I wished there was a perfect word to qualify the love I have for her.I can't really wait to make her my wife.My love for her is something else, something I can't understand."Marcus said in a coo voice.

   "Did she by any chance tell you anything concerning her deceased boyfriend?"Mr Paul asked and cleared his throat.

   "Er...yes,she only told me she loved him and won't let go off him but now he is dead.I bet he's gone for good.I'm really overwhelmed with happiness that I can have Cyndi all to myself and don't have to compete with anyone."Marcus said with a smile.

"But did she have any feelings for you? I mean,have she ever expressed a soft feeling towards you,you know what i'm talking about."

   "Not really, but she said she liked me and that's all."

   "She said she like you?! whoa!? It simply means she's having interest in you."Mr Paul said with a grin.

   "Yes sir,,, I believe....."Before Marcus could finish speaking, Grace ran out of the house screaming.

   "What's it??"Mr Paul asked as he became alarmed.

   "Ma, what is the problem?"Marcus asked as he looked at Grace with curiosity.

   "Blood! blood!!!!I saw blood!! Fred....."Just as she was speaking,she slumped and became unconscious.....

   Cyndi shook her head sadly as Ada narrated what transpired before the death of Fred.She was heartbroken,she hated the fact that he was coming to find her when he had the accident.

   "Fred was going to find you when he was attacked.He promised to find you no matter what because he believed you didn't left on purpose."Ada said.

Cyndi heaved deeply and shook her head in tears.

   "Fred never offended anybody,he was gentle and peaceful.I see no reason why he should have enemies."she cried.

   "That is the way of life Cyndi,there are always enemies no matter how good you are."Ada said.

   "His enemies won't go scot free,never!"Cyndi said and immediately, she felt a strong vibe.

   "Is everything okay Cyndi?"Ada asked when she noticed her sudden expression.

   "Um...yes i'm fine, it's nothing."she said softly as she looked around in fear.

   "Are you sure you're okay Cyndi?who are you looking for?"Ada asked as she also looked around if she could see anyone but she saw nothing.

   "Nobody it's just...."She was speaking when her cellphone rang,she picked the call and was informed that her mother was unconscious in the hospital.

   "I have to go now Ada, my mother is in the hospital."she panicked as she sprang off the chair.

   ""What!?so sorry, i'll catch up with you later in the day."Ada said and Cyndi quickly left.

She hurriedly hopped into her car and tried to start the car but unfortunately it didn't work.She tried all she could but to no avail.

Just as she was going to step out of the car,she caught a glimpse of the  mirror only to see a skeleton covered in blood behind her.....

Episode 10

   "Mum.... mum...."Cyndi called with pangs of fear as she walked into the VIP ward.

   "Mum....."she said and burst out crying when she saw her mum laying helplessly on the sick bed.

   "My daughter....."Grace muttered faintly as she turned her head towards Cyndi.

   "Mum, what happened to you?"She asked sadly as she gently massaged her mother's palm.

   "I saw blood, everywhere was covered with blood."Grace said as the memories of what she saw flashed her mind.

   "I don't understand mum, why should everywhere be covered with blood?"she asked as her heartbeat quickened.

   "It's Fre...."Grace paused abruptly and looked at her daughter, secretly wishing she didn't heard what she said.

   "What are you saying mum!?"Cyndi asked as she arranged her mum's strayed hair.

   "It's nothing Cyndi, I was just daydreaming you know?"

   "So how did you become unconscious? what led to the fall?"

   "I just slipped over and fell and that's all."Grace lied.

   "So what about dad and Marcus? where are there?"

   "They just went out to buy some groceries."Grace said and heaved deeply.

   "Something terrible is going on Cyndi, please be very careful."

   "You're sounding strange mum, you're speaking in a language that I don't understand."

Cyndi was totally perplexed.

   "So what about the burial ceremony, did it go well?"

   "Yes mum,"Cyndi replied sadly as her countenance changed"I can't believe that Fred is gone forever, Fred has left me mum and he will never return."Cyndi said at the verge of tears.

   "You should be very happy my daughter, Fred is not meant for you, I believed that the dream that was supposed to become reality has been obstructed.Fred was destined to kill you, but God spared your life by allowing the death of Fred."

"That reminds me mum,you won't believe what happened to me on my way to this place."Cyndi said as fear grew within her.

   "What is it Cyndi? please tell me, I don't want anything bad to happen to you."Grace said and she swallowed her saliva.

Cyndi blinked her eyes and shook her head.

   "I saw a skeleton covered in blood in my car."

   "What!?"Grace was taken aback with surprise.

   "You said what??"Grace asked again unable to believe her ears.

   "I saw a skeleton covered in blood and I ran away! I left my car at Ada's house ,you see that car, i'll never hop into that car."

Cyndi said and her mother gently sat on the bed and snapped her fingers.

   "Nothing will happen to you my daughter,you shall live to see your grandchildren and to marry Marcus.No weapon fashion against you shall prosper."Grace said as she held her daughter's hand.

   "Yes mum....."immediately Cyndi said this, she started hearing strange sounds obviously coming from the toilet in the room.

   "Can you hear that mum??"Cyndi asked as cold shivers went down her spine.

   "Yes my daughter."Grace flinched as she turned her head in fright.

   Suddenly, the door started making sound as though someone was trying to push it open.Cyndi and Grace looked at each other in terrør.

   Before they knew what was happening,an arm covered in blood hit the door open, they screeched and scampered out of the room for safety....

   Ben (Fred's friend) nodded his head gently as the dibia changed few lines of incantations.He was patiently waiting for the dibia to give him an answer to his unforseen problems.

   "This is unbelievable! I have never seen or heard of this before."The dibia said when he stopped chanting.

   "I don't understand you dibia, what is so unbelievable that a great man like you have never seen or heard?"Ben asked curiously.

   "You want to silence the spirit of your friend, isn't it?"

   "Yes dibia, I know that Fred must surely come for vengeance and i'm not ready for that.Please help me."Ben said.

   "That is nearly impossible! this man you're talking about is not an ordinary dead man.His spirit is so strong that I fear that no mortal not even me, can silence his spirit."The dibia said.

   "Please dibia, i'm not ready to die, i've not fulfill my purpose in life, please you have to do something to help me."Ben pleaded.

   "You're not far from what is going to happen, I can vividly see that his spirit is angry and is ready to seek vengeance.He must surely come for you."

   "I know that dibia, that's the reason I came here."Ben said.

   "The only solution here needs a human sacrifice,your blood."The dibia said as he stare blankly at space.

   "My blood!?"

   "Yes that's the only solution to the unforseen impending dangers."

   "I will do it."Ben simply said with determination and the dibia handed a knife over to him.He watched as blood gushed out after he moved the knife on his flesh.

The dibia dropped some cowries on the blood that splattered on the floor.

   "Throw the cowries at him whenever you see his ghost."The dibia instructed as he dropped the cowries in his hands.

   Ben thanked the dibia and left.

He hadn't gone far when he saw strange birds hovering on a particular spot.He smelt danger and was about to return to the dibia when Fred's ghost appeared in front of him.

Ben was tërrified but he tried not to show his weakness, instead he stood still and looked straight into his blood shot eyes.

   "Why did you do this to me Ben? I trusted you like a friend and brother but you betrayed me."Fred said sadly.

   "And i'm not regretting my actions Fred,the dead has nothing to do with the living."Ben blustered.

   "But the living still has the memory of the dead in their mindset."Fred said almost immediately.

   "Fred,you deserved to die and i'm going to silence your spirit forever."Ben said and he brought out the cowries and threw it at Fred.

   At first, nothing happened but later on Fred started groaning.Blood started flowing out of his bloodshot eyes and before Ben could move an inch, Fred had vanished......

Episode 11

After some days......

   Cyndi travelled to the city with Marcus, she had started falling in love with Marcus .She tried to clear the memories of Fred off her mind but it was impossible,the time they spent together was ever fresh in her memory.

   It was noon, Marcus had been in his room since he woke up in the morning.He didn't even know when Cyndi left the house early that morning.

   He walked down the stairs in a very gorgeous attire and then he called Rose.

   "Rose! Rose!!"he called as he bolted his tie.He brushed his hair backward and adjusted his collars.

   "Where are you Rose? please be very fast."he said.Within a short while, Rose ran out to meet him.

   "Good afternoon sir,hope all is well,do you want me to buy drugs for you? you've been inside your room since dawn so I thought you were sick."Rose said.

Marcus raised his eyebrows angrily and glared at Rose.

   "What do you mean by that Rose? what are you trying to insinuate?do you want me sick or what?"Marcus asked.

   "No sir,ahhh! how will I wish for such a terrible thing."Rose said as she waved her arms innocently.

   "Then stop saying rubbish Rose, I need your help."Marcus said as he adjusted his collars once again.

   "My help!? what is the problem sir?hope nothing bad has happened."

   "Can you put yourself together and be optimistic for once.There is no problem Rose, I want to ask you something very important."Marcus said.

   "I'm all ears sir."Rose said as she bent her head towards him to listen closely.

   "I'm planning to propose to Cyndi today so I want you to tell me something, what should I do when proposing to her? should I be sad, smiling, playing the romantic guy or which other way? what do you think she will like, remember you're a lady like her so you should know all this things."Marcus said sheepishly.

   "Ahh,,, oga sir... I don't know what to say oo.You should be asking others not me, i'm still single, I don't even have the faintest idea about engagement."Rose said as she clapped her hands as if she was trying to remove dirt.

   "No be your fault? I officially gave you a very rare opportunity to go out there and catch some fun but you won't listen,you only prefer to stay indoors burning in the kitchen.Body no be firewood."

   "I understand oga,but i'm only doing my job."Rose said sadly as she crooked her fingers.

   "You're doing your job doesn't mean you won't catch some fun, of course you will definitely get married but how do you think that can be possible when you're always indoor.Anyways, tell me what to do, I will be cross if she comes earlier than expected and still haven't planned the whole thing."

"I have nothing to say as I said earlier, I'm single as number 1, i'm not a specialist in this area, neither am I a relationship therapist.Just do it the normal way, there is nothing wrong with that."

   "Of course there is something wrong with that Rose, I regret seeking your advice in the first place.Just go in there and prepare a very sumptuous and appetizing meal for us,make sure you put your best in it and be very fast."Marcus said.

   "Ahh oga,you know I cannot prepare the best, you should possibly go to a posh and authentic restaurant so they could serve you the best."Rose said hysterically and Marcus shook his head.

   "Please just leave, I blame myself for stooping so low to commune with a low class like you, please leave."Marcus said as he was slightly annoyed and Rose quickly left.

   Few minutes after she left, Marcus sat on the sofa waiting patiently for Cyndi's arrival when the doorbell rang.He quickly sprang to his feet and arranged his attire,he held the ring firmly and opened the door.

   "Alas!!! I got the job!!"Cyndi announced immediately he opened the door.

To her chagrin, Marcus didn't congratulated her or show any happy expression.

   "Is everything okay?"she asked and suddenly,he knelt down heavily and brought the ring.He looked straight into her eyes and smacked his lips.

   "Will you marry me Cyndi??"

Cyndi was overwhelmed with happiness, she covered her mouth in awe and nodded her head in affirmation.Just as he was going to slide the ring into her finger,she flinched and felt a very sharp pain in her head.Before he could ask her what was going on,she rolled and fell heavily on the floor.

   Mr and Mrs Paul sat together on their usual spot where they felt cool.There was certainly no doubt that both of them were happy, they chatted and laughed at their conversation.

   "I'm the happiest man on earth Grace, I believe my daughter should be preparing for her marriage."Mr Paul said.

   "My husband,"Grace called and tapped him playfully,"what makes you believe that she's preparing for her marriage with Marcus?"

   "Forget about that woman, Marcus told me his intention to propose to my daughter when they get to the city,he promised to just thet."Mr Paul said and laughed with satisfaction .

   "Thank goodness that she finally met Marcus, I can't even imagine her future with that her lousy erstwhile boyfriend."Grace said and hissed.

   "I know he's trying to torment us,but he can never succeed because we're the children of God,he that is in us is greater than that spirit in him.After all,the dead has nothing to do with the living."Mr Paul said.

   "Stop it my husband, you're making me afraid."Grace said as she turned around in fear.

   "What is there to be afraid of?I have told pastor Sam to put us in prayer and I sincerely believe that God will not fail us."

   "How are we sure that God is by our side after the evil things..."Grace was speaking when her husband hurriedly closed her mouth.

   "God doesn't know about that Grace, you're the one saying it out "Mr Paul said foolishly.

   "God never sleeps,nor slumber......."Grace was interrupted by a strange bird perching on a tree branch with its beak.

   Suddenly, Fred's ghost appeared.They wanted to flee as usual but they couldn't,their feets were no longer performing their functions.They were stuck.

   "Please.... please.... don't harm us..."they pleaded but Fred groan angrily as the blood on his body dropped.

   In no time, Mr and Mrs Paul laid lifelessly on the floor.

   "I want souls! I'm thirsty for blood!! This is just the beginning!!! Cyndi is next........."

Episode 12

Back to the village....

Cyndi was very unfortunate that she had to come back to the village to mourn the death of her parents.She was unable to unravel the mystery behind the death of her parents.

   "Stop crying Cyndi,all is well, I know this is very hard for you to bear alone but you really need to put yourself together and stay strong."Ada consoled Cyndi who was mourning after the burial ceremony of her parents.

   "My parents are dead Ada and you're telling me to stop crying?how? my parents are gone forever."she cried.

   "Is enough dear it's destiny and we can't put blame on anyone."Marcus cut in.

   "Don't tell me that Marcus, my parents, both of them died at the same day, same time and you're telling me it's destiny.oh no please don't say that."Cyndi said as she moved away when Marcus wanted to console her with a pat.

   "Please Cyndi, I know how painful this is but you're going too far, remember you're engaged,your wedding ceremony is few days from now so you have to be strong.."

Cyndi sniffed and shook her head.

   "What have I done wrong to deserve all this Ada?My loved ones are gone "Cyndi said sadly.

   "Don't say that,you have to be strong because they need you to be strong for them."Ada said with deep concern.

   "Your friend is right Cyndi, please listen to her.At least I was honoured when I gave your parents a befitting burial.I have those feeling that they want the best for you.What you're doing presently is not helping matters, it's aggravating everything instead."Marcus said as e moved closer to Cyndi and wrapped his arms across her shoulders.

.   "What about Ben, I haven't seen him since I came to the village and he wasn't present in my parents funeral.Hope nothing is wrong with him?"

   "No, not actually.He travelled few days ago to the city to start a new life.This village is becoming something else, he said that Fred was tormenting him in his dreams."

"Fred!?"Cyndi exclaimed and gawped at her when she mentioned Fred's name.

   "Why is Fred tormenting him, I don't get it...."Cyndi was befuddled, she looked at her fiance in confusion.

   "Fred's spirit is not at rest,he told me a very terrible thing about Fred which I will disclose to you.He told me to inform you when we see each other."Ada said and she looked around.

   Just as she was going to speak, they saw an old man walking towards them,he was almost leaping as though he had an injury.

   "Greetings to this family."The old man greeted as he waved his arm faintly.

   "How can we help you old one?"Marcus asked impatiently.

   "I'm weary as you can see, I need a glass of water, before that, I need to talk to you, young lady."The old man said pointing at Ada.

He leaped towards the backyard immediately he finished speaking while Ada reluctantly followed him with curiosity.

   "Why did you summoned me old one?"Ada queried when the old man stood still.

   "You have to learn to keep your mouth shut!!!"The old man blustered in a loud deep voice which was only audible to Ada.

The old man smirked as blood gushed out of his eyes and instantly he transformed into Fred,whose body was covered in blood.

   Ada wanted to scream but she couldn't,she had suddenly become dumb.

Meanwhile, Cyndi and Marcus heard strange sounds coming from the backyard so they quickly rushed towards the direction of the sound but unfortunately they couldn't find anyone except Ada who had lost her voice....

   Ben opened his door and led a very beautiful young lady into his room.The lady was indeed a beauty to behold! She walked gracefully into his room and sat on the bed.

   "You're welcome to my humble abode, please do feel at home.Im only managing this place for a while, I'm planning on moving to a bigger apartment ."Ben said.

   "It's nice dear,this place is not bad after all."she said as she looked at the room carefully.

   "Of course it is, you're just saying that to make me feel better."Ben said with a smile.

   "No dear,not at all."she said as she crossed her legs.

   "I really love you Isabella and I will be honored if you do me the favour of becoming my girlfriend."

   "Really;?but don't you think it's too fast?"

   "It doesn't matter Isabella, I love you and that's it, nothing can change that."Ben said as he stare seductively at her.

   "I mean we just met,you just met me with a friend not quite long and you're already confessing your love for me?"

   "As I said earlier Isabella, it doesn't matter."Ben said and he winked at her and started taking off his clothes,he sat close to her and held her waist.

   "What are you doing Ben?"She asked when she felt his hands wrapped round her waist.

   "You should understand Isabella, I need to you..."he said and hugged her.He was about to kiss her when she withdrew and held him back.

   "What are you doing Isabella,you should understand what i'm trying to do, we're adults for crying out loud."Ben said.

   "I understand Ben, just that it's very early for this,we just met."Isabella said as she adjusted her dress.

   "Are you serious!? you must be a very special breed, anyway, I have no problem with that.In as long as you're still my girlfriend."Ben said and Isabella nodded with a smile.

   "I'm beginning to love you Ben,we shouldn't be in a rush."Isabella said.

   "So what can I offer you? do you care for soft drinks??"Ben asked.

   "No i'm okay."

   "I insist Isabella, c'mon let me get you something."Ben said and he went into the kitchen.He came out shortly with a glass of juice.

   "You haven't change Ben."Isabella said after he handed her the glass of juice.

   "What are you saying????"Ben was perplexed and terrified at the same time.

   "Why did you put sleeping pills in my juice,you want to rape me, isn't it?"

   "What!?how!? How did you....."Ben was stammering when Isabella suddenly transformed into Fred's ghost.

He screeched and quickly ran away only in his boxer.

Episode 13

   Cyndi's eyes fell opened when the flash of sunbeam shone directly on her eyes.She sat on her bed and yawned.

   "It's dawn...."she said and stretched her arms.She uncovered herself and covered her husband with the duvet.

He was still sleeping like a baby.

   "He look so cute just like Fred in his slumber."Cyndi said and she pëcked his silky cheek and dabbed it with her fingers .

   She stood up and walked out of the room towards the dinning room.Just as she was about to sit on the dining chair, she heard a strange sound directly from the kitchen, she frowned and muttered some words to herself.

   "Did I just hear something?or am I daydreaming???"she asked herself and suddenly, she heard an echo of what she just said.

   "What's going on???"She asked as she shook with fright.

She shook her head lightly and started moving backwards,"what's going on here?"she muttered quietly to herself as she kept moving backwards.

    Suddenly, she felt someone grabbed her firmly from behind so she screamed and looked back, but to her greatest surprise, she couldn't find anybody.

   "Who are you?show yourself!?Is that you Marcus??Are you trying to play hide and seek games with me?"She said in confusion but there was no response.

She heaved a sigh of relief and was leaving when she felt someone touched her.

   "Hahhhh..."she screamed again and turned around only to see Rose holding a ladle in her hand.

   "What's wrong madam? you've been shouting like someone who is not well.Is everything alright??"Rose asked as she looked at her with curiosity.

   "When did you go get in here? I never saw you coming?"Cyndi asked with a shaken voice.

   "That was because I was in the kitchen before you."

   "You mean you were inside the kitchen!?Wait a minute, didn't you hear those strange sounds?"

   "Sounds!? ahh madam,are you sure you're fine? what sound are you talking about? I've been in the kitchen for quite a long time now and I didn't hear any sound."Rose said as she turned to look around.

   "You mean you didn't hear anything? The strange sounds? the echo? none of them??"

   "Madam are you sure you're okay!? we can go to the hospital immediately if you're not feeling well as I suspect."Rose said as she touched Cyndi's neck.

   "Don't tell me that!?"Cyndi blustered"I know what i'm saying Rose, I heard strange sounds, everything seemed so strange."Cyndi said as she blinked her eyes continuously.

   Rose heaved deeply and shook her head;

   "I want to ask a question, please don't be offended."Rose said as she twisted her lips and was swaying her arms.

"Go on please, I'm preparing for work, I have no time for any trivial discussion."Cyndi said impatiently.

   "I don't understand the reason why you and oga wedded in the court.I was expecting the wedding ceremony to be celebrated in a grand style but you guys did everything so simple with few relatives present."Rose said awkwardly.

Cyndi folded her arms across her chest and glared at Rose.

   "I was so stupid when I thought you had something reasonable to say,but obviously not...."

   "Please don't be offended, I was only worried, I'm sorry..."Rose said with remorse.

   "Sorry for yourself."Cyndi hissed and was about to leave when she saw the same skeleton she once saw in her room while she was in the village.The skeleton was covered in blood.

She quickly moved backwards and screamed..

   "Demons!!demons!!!"She called while Rose turned around to see who she was referring to.

   "What's going on here??"Marcus asked as he rushed into the dinning room on hearing Cyndi's voice.

   "That's it... That creature!!'"she muttered faintly in tears as she pointed directly at the skeleton which was only visible to her.

   "What are you talking about Cyndi?we can't find anything in here."Marcus said as he held her firmly.

   "Can't you see it!? that beast!?"she cried as she kept pointing at the skeleton which was coming closer to her.

   "Please don't come any closer! Leave!! please leave!"She pleaded and closed her eyes.

   After few seconds of silence,she opened her eyes only to see Marcus and Rose staring staring at her, the skeleton had vanished.

   "What's the meaning of all these Cyndi??"Marcus asked almost in anger.

   "Excuse me."she panted and managed to walked away leaving Marcus and Rose in confusion.

   Late that day, Marcus sat in a bar waiting for his friend whom he had summoned.

He was steadily shaking his head to the beat of the Afro music played by the disc jockey and was also swigging alcohol as though his comfort rely in it.

   After few minutes his friend Jason came, they shook hands and exchanged pleasantries.

   "Sorry for keeping you waiting, I was busy with some clients as usual."Jason apologized.

   "It's not a problem nigga, i'm a shadow of myself right now, I don't know what is happening to my wife as I informed you earlier, she's behaving so strange there days and I don't understand."

   "Really!?"

   "Yes Jason, you won't believe what happened early this morning when I woke up.I heard Cyndi screamed so loud in the kitchen so I rushed to see what was going on only for her to be pointing at the air, speaking to nobody in particular.I really need the medicine you were talking about,the same medicine your wife took when she had similar case like my wife."Marcus said sadly and Jason burst out laughing.

   "I'm very serious Jason,this is not a joking matter, Cyndi is turning into something else.Just look at me, I had always wished for a grand wedding ceremony just like Yul,our dear friend but unfortunately Cyndi objected,she insisted that we should be joined as husband and wife in the court for no substantiated reason.I succumbed because I loved her."he was speaking when he got a phone call that he was needed urgently.

   "I have to take my leave now..."Marcus said as he stood up.

   "I understand nigga, take the medicine make sure she takes it so she will recover from any trauma she's going through."Jason said and he gave Marcus the medicine.

   "Thank you so much I got to go,catch up with you later."Marcus said and he hurriedly left.

   Jason smirked and nodded his head in satisfaction as Marcus left.He transformed into Fred's ghost and vanished into thin air.

Episode 14

   It was already dark and Marcus was not back yet.She had contacted him earlier on to come back home as soon as possible.

   Cyndi had been in her room due to what happened early that morning, she had refused to step outside even when Rose beckoned on her to come out for breakfast and lunch.She had insisted that Rose should serve her the food in her room instead of the dinning room.

   She feared greatly because of the terrible sight that early morning, she feared that she might see the dreaded skeleton once again.

   "What does that creature want from me?"she muttered quietly to herself as she was unable to figure out the mystery behind the whole thing.

   "I never offended anyone, did I?"she asked herself repeatedly in thought.

   "Fred is tormenting Ben so he had to travel out of this village."Cyndi was deep in thought when the words of Ada flashed through her mind.

   "Could it be that Fred is tormenting me!? She asked herself rhetorically and shook her head."

   "No way... i'm such a dullãrd,why should I think of such a thing about Fred,he can never do that."she hit her head and snapped her fingers.

   "Ghosts only torment those who are behind their death and Ben said he's been tormented.Could it be that...."she paused and shook her head so heavily.

   "Gosh!? what am I thinking? I'm thinking too far, whatever I saw might be an imagination, after all Marcus and Rose never saw it.By any chance,it is not possible for only me to see something nobody sees, this is to say that, I was only having a mere and horrible imagination.

   She was about to lay on her bed after several thoughts when she heard a gentle tap on her door.

   "You don't have to knock Marcus, please come in and I don't know the reason you took such a long time."she said as she covered herself with the duvet.

   "Marcus!?"she called when she heard no response.

   "Who's there? Is that Marcus or Rose is that you?"she asked again but still no response.

   "Nobody is there, I'm probably imagining again."she muttered and was about to cover her head with the duvet when she heard a knock on the door,this time,it was loud and audible.

   "Who's there?"She trembled in fear when she heard a knock again .

   "It's me."she heard Marcus spoke.

She heaved a sigh of relief when she heard Marcus voice.She adjusted her night dress and then she walked towards the door.

She flung the door open but still she found nothing.

   "Are you playing pranks with me Marcus?please stop whatever you're doing because i'm not in the mood."Cyndi complained and was about to retire back into the bedroom when she saw someone wrapped entirely in a black attire laying on her bed.

She screeched at the top of her voice and ran away.

   "Ghost! Ghost!!help me!! help me!!!"she cried as she ran away.

   "Madam, what is it again?your people don dey call you ahbi nah wetin?"Rose asked comically in a pidgin language.

Cyndi stopped running but was panting in fear.

   "Put yourself together and tell me what's happening because I no longer understand what's going on.A minute you are fine,the next minute you're something else.Please talk to me."Rose said sadly with concern.

   "I saw... I saw it...."Cyndi muttered faintly as she pointed at the direction of her bedroom.

   "You saw what!?"what did you see that is making you freaked out."

   "Ghost! Ghost!!"She replied.Immediately, Rose burst out laughing.

   "Wonders shall never end."she said as she clapped her hands with a puzzled expression.

   "I just said I saw a ghost and all you could do is stand here laughing!?"

   "No madam..you know I have become John Cena, I should go and fight the ghost.If you know what is best for you madam,you better rush inside,dress up so I can take you to the psychiatric hospital before it will be late."Rose said.

   "Are you for real!?"

   "Hey what's going on here?"Marcus asked as he rushed into the room with the medicine given to him.

   "I saw it!! I saw it!!!"

   "Oga don't mind madam, it's just her usual weird behavior and I was suggesting we take her to a psychiatric hospital."Rose interrupted.

   "Here, I have a medicine to stop all of this."Marcus said as he covered the medicine.

   "What is this?"Cyndi asked as Marcus uncovered the medicine.

Marcus ignored her question,he poured a little content into her mouth and she reluctantly swallowed it.

Immediately, she screamed and passed out.

   Cyndi opened her eyes faintly only to see a white painted ceiling.She turned her head to see her husband Marcus with Rose beside him, both of them were patiently waiting for her recovery.

.   "Marcus....."She called weakly and felt a sharp pain in her head.

   "Cyndi.."he called and heaved deeply with his hand rubbing Cyndi's right hand."how are you doing sweetheart?"he asked in a coo voice.

   "What am I doing here? what happened to me?"She asked

   "Madam please forget about what happened for now, thank God Almighty for sparing your life."Rose said 

   "Marcus, what happened to me?"she asked again,this time,her curiosity grew.

   "I don't know yet, i'm waiting for the doctor's report,he haven't told me what happened to you."Marcus said.

   "Madam, please just relax,all is well, you'll be fine."Rose said as she adjusted the pillow.

   Eventually,the door creaked open and a nurse walked in.

   "Gooday Mr Marcus,the doctor will like to see you in his office."

   "The doctor!?"

   "Yes, urgently."the nurse replied and she attended to Cyndi while Marcus quickly left.

   "You sent for me doctor, hope there's no problem?"

   "Of course there is.Please take your seat."The doctor said and he motioned for him to sit.

Marcus heartbeat quickened as he sat down.

   "What did your wife took?"the doctor simply asked.

   "A medicine."Marcus replied with a puzzled expression.

   "Prescribed by whom??"

   "A friend of mine gave it to me.Why did you ask?"Marcus asked curiously.

The doctor exhaled deeply and shook his head.

   "I don't know whatever she took but the medicine she took was meant to kill her."

   "What!?"......

Episode 15

   Rose effortlessly pushed the door open and walked into the bedroom where Cyndi was sitting all alone.

   "Your lunch is ready madam, I think it's time for you to eat."Rose said as she dropped the food on the table.

   "Thank you very much Rose, but I don't feel like eating anything, I want to stay this way."

   "No madam,you don't have to starve yourself, everything will be fine.Im sure that medicine really worked out because I noticed you've stopped those funny behavior."

   "Stop it Rose.Do you think I was mad or stupid when I said I saw a ghost?!"Cyndi was slightly angry.

   "No madam, I never said you were mad or stupid, I only advised you to visit the hospital for check up ."Rose said innocently.

   "I really saw a ghost Rose, I know what I saw, I think i'm been haunted by a ghost but I can't fathom who the ghost really is."

   "A ghost!? wait a minute madam."Rose paused and looked around.

   "Where are the cameras? Because If it is really a movie we're displaying, I want to let you know that they haven't given me my own script."Rose said humorously .

If not for the fact that Cyndi was serious, she would have almost choke with laughter.

.   "You're very stupid Rose, please take that rubbish on the table and leave my room."Cyndi blustered.

   "I'm very sorry madam,if my words riled you.If truly you really saw a ghost,it means you've killed someone before."

   "God forbid."Cyndi said immediately and snapped her fingers.

   "I'll never do such a thing Rose, please stop it."

   "Then there's no point in what you're saying.A ghost can't possibly be after you if you hadn't done anything wrong."

   "I'm totally confused Rose, thank God you believed me."

   "Who!?"Rose exclaimed and exhaled, deeply,"just dey play.... there will be need for us to book an appointment in the......"

   "Leave!!!!!"Cyndi interrupted and Rose flinched and quietly left.

   Moment later, Marcus walked in with a confused and sad expression.

   "What's it Marcus?"Cyndi asked when she noticed his countenance.

  "That medicine was meant to kill you."Marcus dropped the bombshell.

   "What!? I don't get you?"Cyndi exclaimed unable to believe her ears.

   "Someone disguised as my friend and gave the medicine to me."

   "Disguise!? how are you sure that it wasn't your friend?"

   "I just got the information that he travelled to Dubai four days ago."Marcus said.

   "This is really strange....."she muttered.

   "I'm totally befuddled."Marcus said repeatedly.

   "Something must be done before it's too late....."Cyndi said and she bit her finger deep in thought.

   Ben was reckless, he hadn't being himself since he left the village because Fred had been tormenting him non stop.Both in broad daylight and at night.

   He was frustratëd so he decided to meet another dibia there in the city .

He had been sitting with the dibia for quite a long time and the dibia hadn't mentioned anything to him.

The dibia was only murmuring to himself, and Ben doubted his authenticity,he doubted if the dibia was really powerful as claimed by a friend who directed him to the dibia.

   "You're haunted by your friend"s ghost, true or false??"The dibia finally said. 

   "True.Yes."Ben replied and nodded in affirmation.

   "You killed him, didn't you?"

   "Yes I did.I killed him and i'm not regretting it,he deserved to die."

   "So what do you want me to do concerning this??"the dibia queried as he stared at Fred.

   "Silence his spirit forever, I'm sick and tired of everything that is happening.I want my freedom, there are many things I haven't achieved in this life and I can't afford to miss them.Please great dibia,help me."Ben pleaded.

   "I can see you want freedom and freedom you shall get."the dibia said and smirked.

   "Thank you great one, I promise to pay you back in thousand folds if it works out."

   The dibia nodded and he dipped a knife into Ben skin.Immediately,blood started gushing out of the cut.The dibia smiled with satisfaction and was about to rub a protective substance on the cut when the substance disappeared.

   Suddenly, Fred's ghost appeared and he struck the dibia dead.Ben was shivering with fear when he saw this, he was about to flee when Ben appeared in front of him and held his neck.

Ben struggled to live but before he could make any attempt to save his life, Fred had killed him.,His lifeless body fell and Fred crouched beside it and feasted in his blood.

   Cyndi was in her office busy with some documents when her cellphone rang...

   She grimaced and picked up her cellphone.

Her face brightened with a smile when she saw that it was Marcus calling.

   "Hello baby..."she said with a smile in her usual romantic voice.

   "How are you doing sweetheart? hope you've eaten?"

   "Of course dear, I just ate fried rice and chicken few minutes ago."Cyndi replied as she continued signing the documents.

   "That's good, hope you're not stressed?"

   "No dear,not at all Marcus, my job isn't a strenuous job you know...  I'm doing just fine."Cyndi assured him.

   "So how about you, what are you doing now at work?"Cyndi asked.

   "Work!? i'm not at work dear, i'm at home."Marcus said.

   "Home!? but we left our home together, did anything bad happened at work?"she asked with curiosity.

   "No.I just had a day off that's all, I literally wished you were with me. ......"

Cyndi was about to speak when her secretary tapped the door and walked in.

   "I'll call you back."she said and cut the call.

   "Good morning ma, someone is here to see you.He is a business consultant from a firm."the secretary said.

   "Okay, let him in."Cyndi said and the secretary left.

   Few seconds later, the door fell open.....

Cyndi was astounded and was shivering... the so called business consultant was Fred himself wearing a suit.Shw wanted to scream but she couldn't.Suddenly, Fred transformed into a thick black attire, just like the one she saw in her bedroom the other time.

   She stepped backwards as Fred moved closer with a knife in his hand.

     She felt a sharp pain in her head when Fred raised the knife 🔪 to stab her...

Just as she wanted to close her eyes fully prepared for death, someone knocked...

Episode 16

   "Ma! What's wrong!?"The secretary asked as she saw Cyndi panting with fear.

   "He's gone."she muttered to herself .

   "Are you okay ma?you don't look fine."The secretary said.

   "I'm fine Bridget, I'm fine."Cyndi repeated and she took a deep breath.

   "If you say so ma, what about the business consultant?I believed he should be here."Bridget said as she looked around for Fred.

   "That's not a business consultant, he is a ghost."Cyndi said and Bridget mouth fell opened .

   "He's a what!?"

   "You heard me Bridget, didn't you?"

   "But I don't think that is possible ma,that man cannot be a ghost,he even shook hand with me likewise other people outside."Bridget said.

   "Wait a minute Bridget, Are you calling me a liar?"Cyndi asked as she held her chest.

   "God forbid ma, I never said you're a liar, i'm just confused, I mean how could that man possibly be a ghost.He sometimes sends someone to deliver your lunch."

Cyndi opened her eyes wide opened when she heard this.She blinked her eyes several times and shook her head.

   "What did you just say Bridget?"she asked in disbelief as she drew closer to Bridget.

   "He sometimes order lunch for you."Bridget repeated what she had said.

   "Oh my God! I'm finished! i'm finished!!"Cyndi lamented bitterly as she placed her hands on her head and paced back and forth her office. 

   "I'm certain that you believe me now, that man isn't a ghost,he is a very nice man and doesn't deserve to be called such,he said you were his friend so that's the reason he kept ordering your lunch."Bridget said.

   "Get out Bridget! leave!!!!"Cyndi blustered.

   "But ma...."

   "I said leave."Cyndi said aloud and Bridget left.

   "Fred had been feeding me with bewitched food all this while,he had been the one tormenting me.I have to do something before it's too late,he wants to kill me, I saw it clearly in his eyes."she said as she stamped her foot in thought.

   "I can't challenge him physically, this is a spiritual battle."she thought and quickly picked her bag and left.

   Marcus sat in the sitting room reading a magazine and was sipping wine.He was waiting to eat lunch because Rose was still in the kitchen preparing lunch.

   "Please be fast Rose, i'm very hungry, i'm as lion."Marcus exaggerated.

   "I'll be there in a jiffy sir, I'm serving the food."

   "Okay Rose, I can't wait."Marcus said.

   Not quite long, Rose walked into the dinning room with the food.

   "Food is ready sir.She said as she swayed her arms.

   "I'll be right there."Marcus said as he dropped the magazine and walked towards the dining room .He adjusted the seat and sat down heavily.

   "I can perceive the aroma, this food will be very delicious."Marcus said and he uncovered the food and was about to eat when Rose cleared her throat.

   "And why are you still standing there Rose? please give me some privacy."

   "I want to speak with you oga."Rose said.

  "Speak to me!? about what?"he queried.

   "It's about madam oga, I want to speak with you about madam."

   "Can't it wait? i'm very hungry Rose lol, you can talk to me about it after my lunch."Marcus said and was about to uncover the food when Rose replied...

   "No oga, It can't wait, i'll be going to the mall, I need to say this before I leave for the mall."

   "Fine.Im all ears."Marcus simply said as he looked at her curiously.

   "It's about madam, she's been behaving strange and she told me that she have been seeing a ghost."

   "Of course, I know that."

   "Don't you think she's telling to the truth?"Rose asked.

Marcus looked at her for a moment and burst out laughing.

   "It's just an imagination Rose, don't be worried about that, Cyndi is fine, she's just missing her erstwhile boyfriend."

   "You think so?"

   "Yes.Cyndi is fine, she's not seeing a ghost."Marcus assured her.

   "I once believed that."

   "You should keep believing that Rose, can you please leave so I can enjoy my meal?"

   "Why not oga, you can enjoy your food while I prepare to go to the mall."Rose said and she left.

   Marcus shook his head and chuckled as she left...

   Cyndi heaved a sigh of relief when she walked into a church building.She was slightly disappointed when she saw many other people before her.She exchanged pleasantries with them and sat down quietly.Beside her was a woman who was weeping profusely.

   "Hello ma'am.  ..."she called but there was no response.

   "Sorry if I'm trying to pry but can I please know what is wrong?you don't look okay."

The woman looked at Cyndi in confusion and shook her head in pains.

   "I might be of help ma'am"she said thoughtlessly.

   "My husband left my daughter and I today,he ran away with nothing left for us.My daughter and I are stranded,we have nothing left at home.My daughter is sick and I need to take her to the hospital."the woman cried.

   "So I see no reason why you should come to church."

   "The pastor is very kind,he might lend me some money."

   "Don't worry about that ma'am, i'll give you some money for that."

   "Who's Cyndi,come in,the holy spirit just ministered to me..."she heard the pastor said so she quickly dipped her hands in the handbag. the woman thanked her after when Cyndi gave her the money and she left.

   Cyndi greeted the pastor and sat on a seat meant for her.

   "You're haunted isn't it?"

   "Yes pastor, my late boyfriend has been tormenting me, I don't know what to do, please help."

   "There's a solution."The pastor said and Cyndi nodded her head curiously.

   "You're having a connection with him, and that connection can only be broken by a sexual intercourse with a spirit filled being,just like me... This is the only way to freedom, I fear there's no other way,he will definitely kïll you If you don't do this..."The pastor said and he walked closer to Cyndi....

   Cyndi dropped her bag carelessly on the sofa as she marched into the sitting room.She was pacing back and forth the thinking of what the pastor had said earlier.

   "You're having a connection with him, which can only be broken by a sexual intercourse with a spirit filled being like me....This is the only way, I fear he will definitely kïll you if you don't do this.".

   "Gosh!"she said as she held her fist firmly as the pastor's words rang in her mind.

   "I will you time to think about it Cyndi,you must think fast before it's too late."

   "But pastor, I have a husband, I'm married I can't possibly have sex with you.There must be another solution pastor."

   "Are you doubting me madam, this is the only solution to your problem.I have to sleep with you so that ghost will have nothing to do with you.

   "Are you really a man of God? I believe this will be adultery and I can't indulge in it."

   "Are you doubting me?are you doubting God? Are you doubting the commandments of the most high?"

   "No,not at all.Who am I to doubt God?"

   "Then do what he said you should do.My words are authentic."The pastor said.

   "Someone might find out, someone will definitely find out."

   "Fear not Cyndi, I promise you, nobody will find out.Ask anybody within about me and they will tell you all you need to know.Whatever I say, comes to past, everything that comes out of my mouth is the truth but nothing but the truth.".

   "I'll think about it pastor, I can't just give in so easily, I need to think."Cyndi said.

   "You have enough time to think about it.Remember , don't tell anyone, not even your husband, keep it to yourself until you've fully decided to come cleanse yourself on my bed.Mind you, you're running out of time,if you don't do this as soon as possible, then be prepared to die."

    "Hahhhhhhhhhh...."Cyndi screamed when those words echoed in her ears.

   Of course she had made the decision never to go back to the pastor,she believed there must be another way out of the mess she's in .

   "Madam you're back, what's wrong?"Rose asked as she ran out of the kitchen when she heard Cyndi's voice.

Cyndi inhaled and exhaled deeply and then shook her head.

   "I'm fine.. I'm fine, I was only thinking about something..um.. where is my husband?"

   "You sure say that people never start their work?"Rose said in pidgin language. 

   "Work!? what are you talking about Rose? can you please stop poke nosing in my affairs for once."

   "I'm very sorry madam,let me....."Rose was speaking when Cyndi rushed outside so she followed her.

   On getting outside, Cyndi puked and washed her hands under the faucet outside.

   "Are you sure you're okay madam?"

   "I've been feeling weird recently, headache,you know.... but i'm fine."

   "Are you pregnãnt!? What you're feeling is similar to the sings of pregnancy."

   "Pregnant!? Oh I never thought of that.I think i'm pregnant! i'm pregnant!you know what? I'm going to the hospital right now,prepare dinner, i'll be back."Cyndi said and left happily forgetting her sorrows.

    Marcus was in his friend's house having a discussion with him.They sat opposite each other in his garden under the shade of a tree.

   Between them,was a glassy table topped with a bottle of wine and two carafes half filled with wine.

   "There's something I want to tell you Marcus."Tobi (Marcus's friend) said.

   "What could that be?"Marcus asked.

   "I had a terrible dream last night, I saw an unknown man standing in front of a coffin just in front of your house.The man was completely dressed in a thick black attire."Tobi said and immediately, Marcus burst out laughing.

   "What's funny?"Tobi asked with a puzzled expression.

   "I wouldn't have come here if I had known this was what you wanted to say.you dreamt and so what? What do you expect me to do Tobi? I was doing something very important at home when you called me stating it was urgent and now, you're telling me this arrant nonsense."

   "Why are you angry Marcus? I only told you what I dreamt about and you're angry?"

   "Fine . What do you expect me to do? appear in your dream? chase the unknown person away? or possibly throw the coffin right?"

   "Stop blabbing rubbish Marcus, you're talking like an infant and that's riling me.You should go to church and pray,narrate what I said to the pastor so he could pray against any disaster that is about to befall you and your family."Tobi said.

   "Just listen to yourself, please excuse me, i'm out of here."Marcus said and he hit the table with his fist and left...

   Cyndi yawned and stretched her arms when she woke up. She took a quick glance at the wall clock and saw that it was half past eight.She gasped and quickly carried her bathrobe to the bathroom to bath.

   She was having a conference to attend in her office at exactly eight a.m and it was already past eight so she was late.

   "Hi Cyndi, where are you?"Marcus asked as he walked into the bedroom.He had gone to the kitchen to take some coffee.

   "I'm in the bathroom sweetheart, i'm late for the conference."Cyndi said.

   "Oww sorry for that, I would have tapped you earlier if I had known that you were late for work."

   "It's nothing....I just have to be very fast.I have a good news..."

   "Good news! what good news?"Marcus asked curiously.

   "You have to guess,till i'm off the bathroom."Cyndi said with a smile.

   "Please tell me babe,you know I'm very terrible in guesswork."Marcus said impatiently .

   "I'll be out there in few seconds."Cyndi said as she stepped out of the shower cubicle and wore her bathrobe.

   She opened the door and stepped out.....

She was astounded when all eyes fell on her her standing at the door.

She almost slumped but she held herself.

   She was right at the door of the conference hall in her bathrobe!!!!!

   The people stared at Cyndi who stood devastated,she was totally confused and couldn't utter a word.She was only trembling in shame.

   "Excuse me madam.... Is this how to you dress to a conference? with a bathrobe?"one of them said totally dumbfounded.

   "I'm .. i'm..d..dd"She stuttered not knowing what to say.

   "I never knew this company had such a terrible boss like you.. i'm out of here."One of them said and he hit the table and left.

Dribs and drabs, they all left the hall leaving Bridget (Cyndi's secretary)

   "Good morning ma, I don't understand what is happening, this is unlike you, I mean you've never done this before.Why now? why should it be today ma?"Bridget said politely.

Cyndi rubbed her head in confusion and exhaled deeply.

   "I'm as confused as you are Bridget, I was in the bathroom taking my bath, I opened the door after bathing only to see myself here.I know the person behind this."

   "I don't understand you ma, i'm very confused you mean you just appeared here from your bathroom?"

   "Exactly.That ghost I talked about the other day is behind all these and I must put an end to this."Cyndi said at the verge of tears.

   "Is this some kind of super story or what? because i'm not understanding what you're saying.You are gibbering and you know it."

  "Of course you won't understand Bridget,take care of my office, i'll not be in work today."Cyndi said and was leaving.

   "But madam.. what about the business proposal."

   "I don't care anymore, I have to find a solution to my problem."Cyndi said and she left.

   Marcus was pacing back and forth the compound as he seemed not to find Cyndi, who had been missing since she entered the bathroom.

   "Have you seen her?"Marcus asked Rose as she rushed out of the house

   "No oga, I can't find her, i've checked every nook and cranny in this house but she's nowhere to be found."

   "This is super confusing, I mean Cyndi had I were discussing few minutes ago and within a bleak of an eye, she got missing."

   "Oga...."Rose was speaking when the gate was flung open and Cyndi trudged in.

   "Cyndi!!!"Marcus exclaimed as he rushed to meet her and led her into the sitting room.

He quickly told Rose to get Cyndi a glass of water which she did..

   "What happened Cyndi? both of us were discussing not quite long when you vanished."

   "I'm totally confused Marcus, I don't know what is happening.I can't unravel the mystery behind all these."Cyndi cried.

Marcus heaved and held her closely to himself.

   "It's okay Cyndi,you will be fine.Anyways, what was the good news?"

Cyndi's face brightened with a smile as she sniffed.

   "I'm pregnant."she broke the good news.

   "What!! This is awesome! I'm going to become a father at last, i'll be a father!!"Marcus said happily as he jumped in excitement.

   "And i'll be a mother too."Cyndi said and her husband embraced her warmly with satisfaction and happiness.

   It was daytime when Cyndi drove her car towards the pastor's church.She had decided to do what the pastor said because she was desperate for freedom.

   Finally, she got nigh the pastor's church and parked her car.She stepped out of her car and walked towards the pastor's apartment which was behind the church.

   She heard footsteps approaching immediately she knocked the door.

   "Ohh Cyndi, you're here, welcome."The pastor said as he opened the door wide open for her to come in.

   She walked sheepishly into the sitting sitting room and sat on the sofa.

   "You're welcome to my humble abode Cyndi, what can I offer you?"he asked cheerfully.

   "Nothing pastor, i'm okay."she simply said.

   "So...are you ready?"

Cyndi exhaled deeply and shrugged her shoulders.

   "Don't you think there's another way we can sort this out?maybe God might have changed his mind."Cyndi said.

   "No Cyndi, God can't change his mind "he almost blustered.

   "C'mon Cyndi, let's be fast."The pastor said and he took of his clothes leaving only his short.He started taking off Cyndi's cloth when he felt a sharp pain on his back.

He looked back only to see Fred's ghost.

   "Please forgive me...."he pleaded but Fred cut off his neck and he fell heavily on the floor.

   On seeing this, Cyndi quickly carried her bag and flee....

   Cyndi panted and stood against the door immediately she locked it.

   "Where are you coming from Cyndi at this late hour?"Marcus asked as he clumped down the stairs.

   "I went to visit a friend, she just put to birth so I had to be there."she lied.

   "Okay.I was expecting you because I am very hungry, what are we eating for dinner?"

   "Where's Rose? why didn't she prepare dinner?"Cyndi asked

  "She went to visit her sister and will be back tomorrow morning."

   "Okay.. i'll prepare dinner, you should sit down and chill while I go to the kitchen to prepare your favourite."Cyndi said and she dropped her bag on the sofa and went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

She turned the gas cooker on and it suddenly went off,she turned it on again but it still went off.

She was confused so she decided to go complain to her husband.She turned to go when she saw Fred in front of her, she flinched and moved backwards because Fred was coming closer with a knife in his hand.

   Cyndi became afraid when she got to the wall and couldn't move further, she screamed but it seemed no one heard her.Fred moved closer to her and kissed her calmly on her forehead..She was slightly relieved untill Fred thrust the knife deep into her stomach.

   "I'm dying....my baby...my baby....."Cyndi muttered in tears as blood flowed rapidly forming a pool on the floor.

Episode 19

   Marcus quietly walked into the doctor's office immediately he was summoned.He sat on the chair opposite the doctor who was worried as he was.

   "How is my wife doctor? How is my wife doing? How is she and her baby?"Marcus bombarded the doctor with questions.

   "One question at a time Mr Marcus, please put yourself together, relax."the doctor calmed his nerves.

   "Of course you don't expect me to stay calm when my wife is in there dying."

   "I understand how you feel Mr Marcus, please stay calm so we can resolve this together.,"The doctor said and Marcus inhaled and exhaled deeply.

   "What actually happened to her? who did such a terrible thing to her?was she attacked by armed robbers or what?"The doctor interrogated in confusion .

   "I'm as confused as you are doctor, I was in the sitting room when I heard her voice.Obviously, she was in the kitchen trying to prepare dinner.I ran to the kitchen only to see my wife in the pool of her blood.She was stabbed."Marcus explained.

   "Stabbed!? She stabbed herself!?"The doctor exclaimed.

   "Not really,she kept mentioning her late boyfriend's name, She told me that he had been tormenting her but I never believed her.Now I know she's telling the truth and he did this to my wife."

   "Are you for real!?"The doctor was taken aback by surprise.

   "He did this to my wife doctor, i'm short of words, I'm confused.I don't know what else to do."Marcus said at the verge of tears.

   "If this is actually true,then I suggest you should see a pastor,a powerful one because this is beyond imagination.What did he actually want from her??"

   "I don't know doctor,to my knowledge,she did nothing wrong, absolutely nothing.".

The doctor shook his head sadly and stared at space.

   "What about my wife doctor?is she okay? hope nothing bad has happened to her"

   "She's fine Mr Marcus, we're still working on her."

   "And my unborn child??"he asked almost immediately.

The doctor sigh and shook his head again.

   "I'm sorry we lost the baby."

   Marcus felt a shiver ran down his spine,he stood up faintly and left the office in tears.

   He walked to his wife whose eyes were filled with tears.He patted her head as tears dropped from his eyes.

   "He killed my baby..he killed my baby...."she muttered in tears.

   "It's okay Cyndi, please get better.I'm sorry for not believing you earlier, I promise to find a way to eliminate him.please be strong for me."he said in a coo voice as he touched her cheek.

   "I love you Marcus..."

   "I love you too Cyndi."he said and he pëcked her forehead and kept patting her hair.

Tobi (Marcus friend.) rushed out of his house in a nice Italian suit,he was late for work.He quickly opened his car and dropped his briefcase,just as he was going to step into his car,he saw Marcus's car moving in his direction.

   He was curious to know why Marcus came so he stood still waiting for him to step out of his car.

   "Hello bro,how have you been?"Marcus greeted as he walked towards Tobi who seemed impatient.

   "What are you doing here Marcus?"he asked feigning annoyance.

   "I'm sorry for what happened the other day bro, please I need to speak with you."

   "As you can see Marcus, i'm late for work I need to go."Tobi was about to move into his car when Marcus stopped him.

   "Please Tobi, it's very urgent."Marcus pleaded.

Tobi stared at him for a while, later on,he led Marcus into his house.

   "A ghost have been tormenting my wife all this while,she told me but I never believed her."

   "A ghost!?"

   "Yes.My wife is currently in the hospital, she lost her baby because her ghost boyfriend stabbed her."Marcus explained further.

   "What!? Are you for real bro!?"Tobi exclaimed on hearing this.

   "I'm totally confused Tobi, I don't know what this ghost really want from her.I need a solution."Marcus lamented.

Tobi sigh and shook his head still in disbelief.

   "I saw this coming, I knew something wrong was going on when I had that nightmare.I advised you but you threw my advice like a piece of rubbish."

   "I regretted my actions,all these wouldn't have happened if I had listened to you earlier on."Marcus said with pangs of guilt.

   "Anyway, i'll take you to a soothsayer,he should be able to sort things out."Tobi said.

   "A soothsayer!? I thought they were demonic."

   "No,not all.The one i'm referring to is not that type, I should have introduced him as a prophet and not a soothsayer."

   "Okay...we should go now."Marcus said as he sprang to his feet.

   "Not today bro, I have a business project today and i'm already running late.Maybe some other time."Tobi said.

   "Okay bro, thank you.Catch up with you later."Marcus said and he shook hand with him and left....

   Cyndi, Marcus and Tobi sat beside the soothsayer who was putting on casual outfit.Marcus was expecting a native dressed person and not the middle aged man in front of them.

   "I'm pleased you came here because I perceived you would have gotten a wrong information if you had gone to a place before coming here,just like your wife.The pastor gave her the wrong information and she fell for it."The soothsayer said and all eyes fell on Cyndi who became nervous at that moment.

   "What pastor is he talking about Cyndi?"Marcus asked.

   "This is not the right time to ask such question, I see clearly that she's been haunted by her boyfriend's ghost and he won't restrain until he gets what he want."The soothsayer said.

   "Why is he haunting her and what did he want from her?"Marcus queried.

   "Cyndi's mother had a terrible dream before she passed away.In that dream, Fred was slaughtering Cyndi.Her parents were afraid that Fred might harm her so they killed him through his friend Ben."

   "What!?!!!"Cyndi and Marcus explained in unison.

   "They believed the dream will come to pass so they thought the death of Fred is the best option,not knowing that they were making the dream come to pass by killing Fred.You can see that the dream is gradually manifesting.The main reason why he is haunting her is because both of them vowed with their bloods never to separate and that's why he's after her.He want her to join him."The soothsayer said while Cyndi flashed back to her vows, she had forgotten so easily.

   "But I thought death breaks vows."Marcus quickly chipped in.

   "Yes,but the vow they made was stronger than you thought ,death can't break the vows."

   Marcus looked at Tobi and then Cyndi and shook his head.

   "So what are we going to do? I love Cyndi, she's my wife, she can't leave me.Please what is the solution."Marcus pleaded.

   "As the saying goes,give what belongs to Caeser to Caeser,the vow is too strong.Cyndi will have to spend 30 days in his grave as his wife else...."the soothsayer paused and shook his head,"else she must be prepared to die....."

   "Marcus... Marcus...."Cyndi called as she walked behind Marcus who walked quickly into the sitting room.

   "What was that about? what's the meaning of what you just did back there Marcus?"

Cyndi asked as he stopped to listen to what she had to say.

   "So what do you expect?to sit right there and listen to the rubbish he was saying?"Marcus said.

   "I can feel he's telling the truth Marcus, he said everything as it was and I suspect that Fred is angry with me, that's why he is doing all these to me.We made a blood covenant few years back that we will never leave each other for no reason."

   "So what are you insinuating Cyndi?I don't understand what you're saying right now, please make me understand."Marcus said in furiously.

   "I visited a pastor not quite long and he deceived me, he made me believe that having sex with him could solve my problem,I was instructed not to tell anyone.I never wanted to do what he said but Fred kept tormenting me so I had to accept his proposal."

   "You what!?you had sex with a pastor?!"Marcus interrupted angrily.

   "No, I was about to do it when Fred appeared and killed him.I swear I didn't do anything with the pastor."she said innocently.

   "You will never do what that man said, of course he should be lying to us.Could you imagine, that you have to spend 30 days in his grave.My own wife.., who does that? please spare me that trash."He said and twisted his lips.

   "It's not a problem Marcus, I will do it nevermind, if that's the only way to stop him from tormenting me, i'm not complaining."Cyndi said.

   "But i'm complaining Cyndi, i'm your husband so I have every right to tell you what to do and what not to do.You will never do that,not in this life,you can't possibly stoop so low to spend 30 good days with a dead miserable man."

   "Don't say that Marcus, Fred is not as bad as you think.He will keep tormenting me if I don't do this Marcus, please consider me, I have gone through a lot all because of a reckless vow which I made because I was blindfolded by love."

   "I can see you still love him Cyndi but my decision is final,you won't do it, never!!!"Marcus said authoritatively.

   "You would have done more to be free if only you were in my shoes Marcus.I need my freedom."Cyndi lamented.

Marcus chuckled and shrugged his shoulders .

   "My wife will never be so stupid to spend a month with a dead hungry man,not when i'm alive.Period!!!"Marcus said with finality and left.

   "Marcus!!! Marcus!!!!"Cyndi called but he didn't respond.She flopped heavily on the sofa and broke into tears.

   It was already dark and Cyndi was still sitting on the particular spot.She hadn't attempted to move or even check on her husband in the bedroom.

   She was weeping quietly when the doorbell rang, she didn't reply...

She kept weeping uncontrollably.

After knocking twice, the door fell open and Rose walked in.

   "Blood of Jesus! what is happening madam?! why are you crying?!"She asked immediately she saw Cyndi.

She sat closer to Cyndi and held her back lightly to console her.

   "Please madam tell me, how is oga? what is even the problem?"she asked again as Cyndi sniffed back a few more tears.

   "I'm about to die."she said with all energy she could muster.

   "Die!? How!? you're getting me confused madam, what do you mean by that?"Rose was visibly confused.

   "I'm going to die...."she added.

   "D...d... wait oo."Rose stuttered unable to fathom what was going on.

   "Marcus... Marcus...."Tobi called as he walked gallantly into the sitting room.

   "Where is Marcus? where is he?"

   "I haven't seen him since I came."Rose quickly said as she raised her arms innocently.

   "He's upstairs,he has refused to come out Tobi, your friend want me to die ."Cyndi cried.

   "Don't say that Cyndi, don't worry i'll sort things out.Let me talk to him."Tobi said and he walked up the stairs calling Marcus who never replied.

   "Marcus...."he called loudly as he knocked his door.

   "What are you doing here Tobi? please leave."Marcus blustered.

   "I'm your friend Marcus, you have to hear me out."Tobi said in his coo voice.

   "There's nothing to say Tobi, please leave ."he fired.

   "Of course you barely know what your wife is passing through because you're not in her shoes.Do you know she is going to die if she don't do this?"he said rhetorically.

   "That's a blatant lie, nothing will happen to my wife,that soothsayer or whatever you call him is the devil incarnate.Leave Tobi, else you will regret what I will do to you."

   "You have...."

   "Leave!!!!!"Marcus screeched so he had no better option than to leave immediately.....

   Marcus parked his car along the highway because he was on a phone call with a client.He was engrossed in the discussion that he almost forgot that he was already late for work .

   He couldn't drive while calling because it was against the rules and regulations while using the road.Calling while driving is a nô nö which attract punishment or possibly fine.He was not ready to get involved with the cops so he had to wait despite the fact that he was late.

   After some minutes of discussion,he ended the call and was about to start his car when his cellphone beeped.It was Tobi.

He sighed deeply and reluctantly picked the call.

   "You have to save your dear wife before it will be too late, she's gradually dying Marcus.She's your wife, I know you love her but you just have to let her do what is right so she could be free...you...."before Tobi could finish speaking, Marcus hissed and ended the call,"it's all lies, I believe nothing will happen to my wife, she will be fine."he said to himself and was about to start his car, when his cellphone beeped again.It was an unknown number calling....

   "Who's this again, hope he's not calling me with another number."he said to himself and picked the call.

    "BE PREPARED TO DIE.....hah...hahhhhh..."he heard a thunderous voice spoke.The sound shook the car and Marcus threw his cellphone in fear.

He quickly started his car and drove off...

    He hadn't gone far when his car was crunched like a piece of paper,his car rolled in the air and explode suddenly...

   "My husband... My husband ....."Cyndi screamed as she rushed into the hospital with Tobi after she was informed about the accident.

   She rushed into the hospital screaming at the top of her Tobi did all he could to calm her but all attempt were futile.She kept wailing in tears disturbing the serenity of the hospital.

   "Please madam calm down,all is well please."The nurses consoled her but she won't listen, she kept calling Marcus and was pacing randomly in the hospital.

   Tobi paused and shook his head in pains,"ohh lord please save his life, I know his wife's late boyfriend is behind this but please God, have mercy on him, he is innocent."Tobi muttered a word of prayer as he stared blankly at the ceiling.

   "Gooday Mr....Are you connected to Mr Marcus? the patient who had a fatal accident?"

   "Yes nurse.w..w..what is the problem?"he stuttered as his curiosity grew.

   "The doctor actually want to see you in his office, right away."She said.

   "Okay thank you..."Tobi said as he quickly whizzed past the nurse, heading to the doctors office.

   "Gooday doctor, How is he doing?"Tobi asked immediately he shut the door behind him.

He scurried towards the doctor and stood before him, expecting an answer to his question.

   "Please sit.."The doctor said as he pointed at the well furnished chair in front of him.

   "I guess Mr Marcus is your friend, isn't he?"he asked when Tobi sat down.

   "Yes doctor, please tell me,how is he now?"Tobi said impatiently.

   "Of course you should know that his condition is critical,he had a terrible accident which almost took his life.Thank God for some good samaritans who rescued him and brought him down here."The doctor said.

Tobi exhaled and nodded his head..."so can I see him now?"he requested.

   "I'm sorry you can't.He is unconscious,he was seriously injured.One won't believe he could survive such a terrible accident.The car got burnt without recognition."

   "Oh my goodness."Tobi muttered as he bowed his head in disappointment.

   "By the way, where's his wife?"

   "She's out there crying, she's in no mode for discussion right now if that's what you're planning."Tobi said thoughtlessly.

   "He dropped a message for her before he fell into coma."

Tobi raised his head when he heard this.

"What message?"

   "I'm sorry I can only disclose it to his wife because the message was meant for her."

   "Tell me doctor, I know virtually everything that's only on in that family,a life and death issue.There is actually no time for privacy right now."Tobi blustered as he bashed the doctor's table.

   "He said she should do it as fast as she can before it's too late because he is coming for her.I really don't understand the meaning of what he said,the pronoun features are so confusing.I believe his wife will be the only person to unravel this."The doctor said.

   "You have to go Cyndi, get prepared now."Tobi said as he lifted her up.

   "I don't understand Tobi."Cyndi was devastated.

   "I'll be with Marcus,you have to move to the village and do what you're asked to do, Marcus said so."

   "He did!?"

   "Yes.Theres no time Cyndi,start leaving before something bad happen again.I'll call to reach out."Tobi said and Cyndi reluctantly left .

   It was dark when Cyndi drove her car into Fred's compound.The compound was as quiet as a graveyard,it was only the chirping of birds that she heard.

   She stepped out of the car with her box and then walked towards the house which was as old as it was.She got to the door, only to discover that it was open.

She heaved and brought out a flashlight to see more clearly, she turned around and finally walked into the house.

   Her cellphone beeped immediately she dropped her bag on the tattered sofa.It was a message from Tobi asking if she had arrived safely and she gave a positive answer.

The house was so grubby, she knew she had to do some chores just to make the house comfortable for her in the mean time.

   She changed into a light dress and tied her hair ready for the chores.Just as she was going to start dusting the chairs, she heard a knock on the door.She was surprised because she wasn't expecting anyone, she walked towards the door and opened it but couldn't find the person who knocked.She locked the door and turn to go inside only for her to see Fred sitting on the sofa.

She flinched because she wasn't expecting him that night, after all she knew he was the reason she came.

   "What do you want Fred?"she said tearfully with enough gut to back her words.

   "Come sit with me Cyndi, please..,"Fred pleaded in a coo voice and Cyndi reluctantly sat down not without trepidation.

   "I'm sorry for everything I did Cyndi, I was angry because I was killed.Your parents killed me for no right reason and I did same to them."Fred said as blood dripped down his eyes.He held Cyndi's hand and she almost trembled with fear.

   "I love you Cyndi, I couldn't stand the feeling of seeing you with another man, that's why I did all of that, I was desperate for you to join me because I was alone, I had no one to talk to, I had no one to share my emotions with .I felt you were breaking our promise because we vowed never to leave each other no matter what."Fred said.

   "But you went to far,you caused a lot of havoc, you killed my innocent unborn child and now my husband is almost dying there in coma."Cyndi cried bitterly as she moved away from him.

   "I'm frightfully sorry Cyndi, I couldn't rest, I tried to leave you but I couldn't.My spirit was restless,all I understood was vengence.I'm sorry."he pleaded with blood still dripping down his scarring face.

Cyndi exhaled and held his hands, she felt so free at that moment.

   "I never stopped loving you Fred, I was bittered, I had always wished you could come back but it's impossible,if wishes were horses beggars will ride.I'm here for you Fred.I love you."she said and quickly hugged him so closely and passionately as though her life depend on it.

"I love you too Cyndi....."he muttered with a smile on his face.

Few days later.....

   At last it was a month already, Cyndi was preparing her luggages.She arranged her clothes in her box and then she picked up some cleaning equipments to clean the house.The days she spent with Fred was really awesome and a one in a million experience.Fred had really shown her great love,they did things together, they slept together on the same bed and go out together but luckily for her,no one saw him ,he was invisible to them .

   Truly,it seemed she was newly wedded and Fred was the perfect husband she had wished for but unfortunately he was dead ,her wishes can never come to past.She prayed earnestly for Fred and can't stay an hour without talking or being close to Fred.

She had finished cleaning the house but Fred was nowhere to be found.He had told her that he will be back but he was not yet back.She sat on the sofa and called Tobi to know Marcus's health condition.

   "Hello Tobi, good morning."She greeted immediately he picked the call.

   "I really don't know Cyndi.His health status is still the same, not aggravating not improving."

   "Oh my goodness,this is terrible."Cyndi said as she rubbed her hair in frustration.

   "By the way,you should be here,this is more than thirty days.I see no reason why you should remain with such a petrified ghost."

   "Point of correction, don't call him a ghost,his name is Fred."

   "Are you serious!of course you don't expect me to call him Fred when he's dead.I can see you've fallen for this guy again.

   "You're right Tobi, i'm literally in love with him again, I wished he could come to life again."Cyndi said.

   "Hope he didn't hurt you."

   "Why should he?I mean he loves me so much.He did all of that because he was angry."

   "Now I get it Cyndi,he isn't that terrible after all.You have to come back okay? Remember you have a dying husband to be with."

   "I heard you Tobi.Bye"

   "Bye..."

She ended the call and dropped her phone on the sofa, she was about to stand when she heard Fred's voice.

   "You really love me that much?"he asked.

She smiled and turned to face him,he was putting on a white rob.

   "Don't be ridiculous Fred, where have you been?"

   "Um...to get something."he said cheerfully.

   "Something!? Are you being serious!? remember you're dead and no one can see you, there's no way you can buy something from someone."Cyndi said.

   "I have something for you Cyndi,"he said as he walked towards her.He brought out a ring and held it firmly in between his fingers.

   "A ring!?How did you get a ring?you didn't steal it, did you?"

   "I got it from Ada's company, Ada is doing well, though I made her dumb,but now, i'm glad she could speak perfectly and to crown it all, she had forgiven me."

   "Wow!!!"Cyndi muttered,"why are you giving me a ring Fred? hope this is not another sort of vow."she said nervously.

   "Of course it is...you must marry me!!!!"he said in a deep voice and Cyndi trembled in fear.

   "Just kidding!! it's not a vow, no.It is a gift from me to you, it's not just an ordinary ring now but a special ring that will bring fortunes to you.I love you Cyndi,loving you is the best thing i've ever done.I'm satisfied that we spent some time together.I will miss you Cyn..."before he could complete what he was saying, Cyndi kissed him.

   "I love you too Fred."she whispered as he dipped the ring into her finger.

Eventually, she felt empty, she opened her eyes only to discover that Fred was gone.

   Tobi sat closer to Marcus who was still unconscious, Tobi was looking weary,his gloomy face showed his sad expression.

The nurse walked in and notified him that his attention was needed in the doctor's office.He sighed deeply and was about to leave when he heard his name.

He was nonplussed,he turned back only to see his dear friend Marcus full of life.His eyes were opened.

   "Marcus....."he called as he walked back to meet him.

   "You're awake!!!!"

   "Where is Cyndi?"he asked faintly.

   "She's back,she will be here shortly."Tobi said with joy.

Eventually,the door fell opened and Cyndi walked in with Rose behind her.

   "Here she comes...."Tobi said.

Cyndi gasped in surprise when she saw Marcus had regain consciousness.She rushed to meet him,

   "Marcus...."she said softly and hugged him.

   "But you said he was unconscious."Cyndi said to Tobi.

   "Yes he just woke few minutes ago, it's a miracle."

Cyndi smiled broadly and she nodded her head as comprehension dawned on her, Fred was responsible for his quick recovery.

   "Thank goodness you're alive Marcus, i'm sorry because all these wouldn't have happened if ......"

   "No more word Cyndi, i'm happy you're free and I'm sorry I aggravated the issue even when it was worst."Marcus said in a coo voice.

   "Stop trying to be the victim Marcus,we were both victims."Cyndi said and they all laughed.

   "Yes Cyndi is right,both of you were victims."Tobi added.

   "I'm very happy for you oga, thank God you're strong now,you need to see the way I was speaking in tongues in church last week Sunday, I fell under annoiting and rolled on the floor all because of you oga.You should be thankful to me too."Rose said hilariously.

   "You all are amazing, you're not just anybody but a part of our family.This really calls for celebration Tobi, what do you think?"

   "Of course dude,you don't trust me again?be expecting a grand party next week."

   "Wow!!"They heard the nurse said behind them,"hope I'm invited."she said and they all burst out laughing.....

   Cyndi was delighted when she sat on her office admiring Fred's portrait,he photographed it before his death.She was really living a comfortable life.Fred no longer appear to her or cause any havoc.Although, she missed him and wished to see him again.

   "I miss you Fred.."she muttered and kissed the portrait.She placed his portrait on her table and smiled sweetly at it as though he was really in the picture.

   She sat on her chair after she dropped it, doodling and daydreaming about Fred.The sound her cellphone made, brought her back to reality.She carried her cellphone and read a message sent to her, she couldn't believe her eyes, she blinked several times and read it again.She screamed when she believed the message was really true,; she had gotten her long awaited contract of about 1.5 billion naira.

She was overwhelmed with joy, she stood up with happiness and was about to scream so loud when she heard a tap on her door,She opened the door and was curious to see her secretary holding a paper.

   "Doctor Ayomide dropped this ma."she said and she handed the paper over to Cyndi and left.

   Cyndi opened the paper curiously and to her greatest surprise, she was confirmed positive to the pregnancy test she had done earlier.

   "Thank you Lord!!!"she screamed joyously.

   "Thank you for using Fred to bless me."she said and she glanced at the ring in her finger.

   "Thank you Fred!!!"she said softly and kissed it....
